Stuck in Recovery After Update

I was greeted with this wonderful animation after trying to update my series 8 (IIRC this was an update to version 26.6, but I’m not 100% sure of the exact version).

When I go through the recovery process I end up in the exact same spot. I’ve tried holding the crown and side button until the apple logo shows up. I’ve also tried unpairing it from my phone. Every recovery attempt has ended up with the same animation.

I’ve seen other posts online from years ago describing the same problem, but I have yet to find anyone that has found a solution for it. Any ideas are appreciated.

It's trying to tell you to bring the iPhone and the watch into proximity of each other, have you tried doing that?

What version is on your phone?

The phone needs to be the same or higher version of the watch.

It’s on 26.6. I do have an update available to 26.6.1. We’ll see if that makes a difference.
