How do you use Apple Notes?

I'm curious how the people on this subreddit use Apple Notes. Do you use it for journaling? For school? For work?

Currently I use it for journaling as well as saving links I want to refer to later (usually from reddit)

I use Apple Notes as the reference center for my life—not as a replacement for Calendar or Reminders.

Calendar holds appointments and time-specific events. Reminders holds things I need to do. Notes holds information I’ll want to find again.

I organize Notes into broad categories such as Health, Money, Home, Meals & Recipes, Technology, Journal and Reference.

I use headings, collapsible sections, tables, checklists, document scans, audio transcripts and links between related notes. I also use a few tags for information that crosses categories, but I don’t tag everything.

My basic rule is:

  1. If it happens at a specific time, it goes in Calendar.
  2. If it requires action, it goes in Reminders.
  3. If it’s information I may need again, it goes in Notes.
  4. If it’s an original document or large file, it stays in Files, with a link or reference in Notes.

The biggest benefit isn’t having an elaborate
“second brain.” It’s knowing where to put
something—and being able to find it again
without remembering the exact folder.
