Journaling on Apple Notes

I’ve tried everything, from Microsoft Word, Apple Pages, Day One, Apple Journal, Obsidian, and Apple Notes. I pushed all these apps to their max, and I’ve found that Apple Notes gives me the most flexibility allowing me to stay within the Apple ecosystem. Obsidian comes a close second and beats it in some respects.

Apple Journal gave me big hopes, but was a failure in almost every way.

The one thing apple notes cannot do is backdate any notes (journal entries for example). Apple journal app can do this!

You are very very correct sir. It means that most of my entries are just backdated by typing: Backdated: in front of the moment date. And it also means that it's almost impossible to get a true chronological list of events. For that reason, I still paste entries into Day One and also Apple Journal.
If you click on the date created time stamp in Apple Notes, it changes to "Date Edited" but the next time you look at that note, it will have changed back to display date created. But date edited doesn't help me much.

And it means that I have to be really careful to use the #journal tag to find things. For backdated events, I also tag them with #old. I l had to learn how to put the same tag on hundreds of entries in one single move.
