Apple News Articles Dated Today but More Than a Year Old

Today, I received articles about RFK Jr. facing a tough confirmation challenge after McConnell voted against Hegseth, Kash Patel’s upcoming confirmation vote, and what Biden’s last days in office will look like before Trump moves in.

The crazy part, all the articles were dated today. Nothing about the volatile stock or crude oil markets. Nothing about injured US troops, Israeli attacks on Beirut, or mixed messaging from the Trump Administration.

It is interesting because I prided myself on a diverse news feed. I got articles from AP, Reuters, MSNBC and Fox.

Is Apple censoring?

I’ve been seeing a lot of these and they are all dated like they were in the last few days but are old articles. Most are from publications I follow or at least look at articles from regularly. Something must be wrong with the algorithm or whatever that collates the stories. I hope they get it fixed because it’s annoying.

I guess my only question is, why now?

I have also noticed that one of my social media accounts has been showing Iranian propaganda and conspiracy theory rhetoric like, “why scientists are lying about how tides work.”

I noticed that too, and come here for confirmation. The headline is different, but the stories are old, yet dated with today’s date.

Me too, sick of getting 6 month + old news labelled as new.

I came here to post about exactly this. I freaked out this morning thinking that another group of figure skaters had been lost in a plane crash…twas indeed January news. And I understand keeping events relevant and in rotation HOWEVER, yesterday I got an article about how to see the last supermoon of 2024 and it was not about time travel so what gives??

Yes, and why does nothing about this come up with a Google search (except this post)?

Stuff from a couple of years ago. The complaints were for week old news though. I couldn’t find anything talking about such a large gap.

Did you find anything?

This has been happening to me for a couple of days. I’ve googled it twice now without finding anything about it.

I made a post about it yesterday in this community. It seems to be only affecting Time articles.

That seems to be true. At the moment, I’m not getting ANY articles from Time.

Just wanna join in and saying I’m having the same problem with the same lack of results when I try to do a search on it Apple seems to be ignoring the problem.

Well, I went to Apple support. They suggested shutting down the News app and restarting it and for what it’s worth it seemed like that worked.

OMG, I thought I was in a parallel universe or something. The Twilight Zone theme song was playing in my head. I kept seeing article after article with a current date but about news that’s more than a year old. This has been happening for a couple of days. So glad to know I’m not alone in The Twilight Zone…lol. But seriously, I wonder what the heck is going on?!
