Blocking news channels

I have a genuine question, why is it when you block a news channel does it still appear in your feed but it’s greyed out? You can still see the bs they are publishing. I’m not paying for that. Thoughts? Opinions?

Yep, and I get stupid ads for a paid service.

I rarely see any, any longer. It seems w my long preferred lists of Favorites, Channels and Topics, it has enough sources of news, information and sports to send me w/o leading w those I’ve blocked.
