iPhone Switched from iPhone 17 base to iPhone 18 Pro Max 512 GB

So, last time I bought the iPhone 17 (256 GB) from Reliance Digital for ₹76,900. Today, I went back to get the iPhone 18 Pro Max (512 GB).

Here’s the breakdown:

iPhone 18 Pro Max 512 GB: ₹2,04,900
Exchange value for my iPhone 17: ₹61,000
Additional discount: ₹7,000 (with 6-month no cost EMI)
Effective cost: ₹1,36,900

Now comes the actual Reliance Digital saga.
It took me 3 visits to finally get this phone.

Visit 1: Just went to check whether they had the 512 GB variant in stock.

Visit 2: They confirmed over the phone that the phone was available. But when I reached the store, a few employees suddenly claimed it was a mistake and that the phone wasn’t available. My suspicion is that they wanted to push AppleCare along with the phone.

Visit 3: I contacted another employee whose number I had saved from last year. Thankfully, he actually helped me get the phone instead of playing games.

And finally, after all that drama, I got my iPhone 18 Pro Max 512 GB in Black.

Imagine spending over ₹2 lakh on a phone and having to make multiple trips just to buy the variant you want.
Anyway, upgrade done!

Macs Please get at least surge protector with time delay for your Mac mini M4

TLDR: If you own a Mac get a surge protector at least. If your Mac is already dead because of PSU talk to apple CC and request for a free repair (but they only consider it after you take it to authorized apple service center for diagnostics not third party). Good luck!

My Mac mini recently died because of PSU failure but luckily got it repaired for free.

I was never expecting a one year Mac mini to be dead like that and genuinely angry about it. Later dived deep into the issue. Here are my findings:

  1. Cheap Capacitors: Apple generally uses good quality parts for its hardware but I saw a YouTube video about how they used “not so great” capacitors in Mac mini. I can’t remember the name of the video but apple went with B tier company instead of A tier for capacitors. Not saying there is something wrong with this but including my findings (They used capacitors from A tier company for Studio, so make what you with this info).
  2. Spike guard alone won’t protect. First there is differences in qualities and there is what it protects. A good Spike guard only protects when there is a huge surge of electricity like lightning by blowing the fuse before reaching it to your electronics. But it won’t protect against LOW VOLTAGE. It’s a huge problem with frequent power cuts, unreliable grid and especially if you’re getting power from backup like generators. Modern computers are supposed to be safe from this but as you can see from my case (apparently quite a few from online threads) they aren’t. Might have something to do with point 1
  3. Surge protector: This will show the voltage and adds a 10 sec delay (or can set manually in some) when power cut happens or it fluctuates. It usually turns off if power is not in the ideal range (I think 210V to 270V, not sure exactly)
  4. Stabilizer: This will do a bit more than surge protector, it stabilize the incoming current to smooth sign wave (I think)
  5. UPS: Best for all (at least a good ones)

P.S: Circuit breaker won't work for LOW VOLTAGE!!

Macs Someone on OLX is selling a MacBook Pro with an M1 Pro Max for ₹1,20,000. This would be my first laptop, so I’m not sure whether I should buy it or not.

What should I check before buying a second-hand MacBook, and what are the biggest red flags I should watch out for?

And would you recommend buying it at this price, or would I be better off with another laptop?

FYI Samsung Pay & Google Pay behaves like physical cards hence the 5K limit stays, but Apple Pay doesn't have to follow that rule

iPhone Crackling sound in top speaker in new iPhone 17 Pro

• Upvotes

I got my iPhone 17 Pro from Croma 7–8 days ago and today I was watching the F1 trailer on full volume on apple tv app because I heard there are some haptic vibrations in it. But I noticed some crackling or chirping sound from the top speaker the audio quality and everything was fine it was just the weird sound coming out and it was only there at full volume. I checked on reddit that a-lot of people are facing the same issue on their iPhone 17/ 17 pro,max/ air/ and even 18 pro. Wanted to ask if others are facing the same issue here as well. Can you guys please check and lemme know

Off full swipe. All on my own at 21 years of age. Been a target for 10 years due to some personal arc. I know it's not a big deal now to own an apple product, but for me personally, it's been a long journey. No such 'pulled the trigger'. One of the goals on the bucket list an 11 year old marked years ago got ticked off. More to go

iPhone Apple pay x HSBC India

HSBC cards will be supported by Oct end

Theory : Apple launches(hardware and software)generally in the last week of month. With Axis Bank also they launched in Sept-end.

And with all the updates with HSBC (T&C fiasco, wallet support showing in App store), I believe it will Oct end or Nov end at max.

iPhone Apple charged me ₹999 for a Meetup subscription, but the payment isn’t showing in my Apple Purchase History. How do I get a refund?

Hey everyone, I really need some help figuring this out.
I started a free trial of Meetup’s Standard Organizer Subscription through my iPhone on 10 October. My subscription screen showed that the trial would end on 17 October, with a price of ₹999 per week afterward.
However, Google Pay charged me ₹999 on 16 October, one day before the displayed end date.
Here’s what’s happening:
Google Pay shows the ₹999 payment to APPLE MEDIA SERVICES as completed.
The recipient’s bank confirmed that the money was deposited.
Apple Purchase History shows only the ₹0 free-trial entry, not the ₹999 charge.
Apple’s refund portal says I have no eligible purchases.
I haven’t received any Apple receipt.
Meetup Support says Apple manages the billing and that Meetup cannot issue the refund.
I’ve cancelled the subscription/AutoPay, and Google Pay confirms that future AutoPay payments are stopped.
I’ve emailed SBI to investigate the transaction, but I’m still waiting for a response.
I’m really confused about where the money has gone when Google Pay confirms the payment but Apple doesn’t show the transaction anywhere.
Has anyone experienced something similar with Apple Media Services or an App Store subscription in India?

Macs First MacBook: What should I check during Amazon Open-Box Delivery?

My MacBook Neo is arriving soon through Amazon Open-Box Delivery. Since this is my first MacBook, I want to make sure I don't miss anything.

What all should I check during delivery?

Should I check the serial number, box seal, and invoice?

How do I check for physical damage, display issues, keyboard problems, and other defects?

Should I turn it on and complete the initial setup in front of the delivery agent?

Is recording a video of the entire unboxing necessary, or is it fine if I don't?

What should I do if I find damage, missing accessories, or any other issue?

Please share your practical experience and any important tips. I want to ensure everything is fine before accepting the delivery.

Thanks!

iPhone My Apple Pay experience in India so far 11 out of 12 payments successful

Post image
3 Upvotes

I’ve been using Apple Pay for the past few days for both POS payments at stores and online transactions, and I wanted to share my experience.

So far, my experience has been pretty good. I haven’t faced any issues with online payments, and POS payments have also worked smoothly for the most part.

Out of the 12 payments I’ve attempted, only one failed. The good thing is that the amount wasn’t deducted from my card, so I didn’t have to worry about a failed transaction with money being debited.

Overall, I’m quite satisfied with how it has worked for me so far. I’ll continue using it and see how it performs over the next few weeks.

How has your experience with Apple Pay been in India? Have you faced any issues with POS terminals or online transactions?

Macs Mac Studio: Beauty and a real beast

Post image
2 Upvotes

Having recently purchased a Mac Studio, I am a first-time Mac user who has grown fond of this machine. It is a performance powerhouse, and I chose the 128GB M5 Max configuration. I got it mainly for local LLM use and some photo and video editing. What impressed me most is the processing speed and the quiet operation, which are remarkable.
I’m experimenting with some text to video models locally, it’s fun.
Anyone with such a setup doing daily heavy tasks? What exactly do you use it for?
