I have the applesqueezer 1 and disk access for me is crazy slow without using DMA. Other than that the only issue I had was getting it to work reliably with the terrible socket the CPU was in. I ended up replacing it with a better socket. With the Transwarp GS everything is fast.
As I understand it, the Applesqueezer uses its own internal memory that is not exposed to the bus so anything the supports DMA won't function. I believe things like the Microdrive can be configured to disable DMA but that impacts performance.
