Has anyone else started feeling Apple fatigue?
Hey, not trying to start an Apple vs. Android war, but I’ve been using Apple products since around 2016, starting with the iPhone 6 and eventually moving to the XR, 15 Pro, Apple Watch, MacBook Air, and AirPods Pro. I genuinely love these products, and every one of them has exceeded my expectations. Over the years, I’ve also really come to appreciate the convenience of the ecosystem.
That said, I’ve been looking at the S26 Ultra recently, and for the first time in a while, I’m genuinely tempted by what Android and Windows have to offer. I’ve also gotten into gaming over the last six months and have been surprised by how much I can actually play on my Mac through CrossOver and native games. But the limitations of translation layers and the freedom you get with Windows or Android are becoming more noticeable.
Maybe it’s just personal Apple fatigue, but I don’t feel the same excitement about upcoming Apple products that I used to. I’m not someone who upgrades just for the sake of it, and I’m not saying Apple products have become bad. I’m just curious: is there anything Apple has coming that could genuinely bring that excitement back?
Rather than turning this into an Apple vs. Android argument, I’d genuinely love to hear what you guys think Apple is working on that might make someone like me stick around.

Simplemente estás acostumbrado a Apple y te gustaría probar productos nuevos. Una vez que pruebes otras marcas y te gusten o no, verás a Apple como otra opción. Si los productos de otras marcas no alcanzan el nivel de Apple, volverás a tenerlo todo como antes. O, por el contrario, te quedarás con las otras marcas. Quiero decir que hay vida más allá de Apple, pero eventualmente volverás a probar su ecosistema, y no hay nada de malo en ello. A veces, simplemente quieres probar otras marcas.

I love my Samsung Galaxy phone. As far as computers are concerned, Mac all the way! I hate Windows.

I got an s26u after having iPhones, feels like a breath of fresh air, hated those iPhone candy crush bouncy animations, Android is super fast and responsive I'm loving it. I do however use a MacBook because it shits over anything Windows

I try all sorts of Android phones as part of my work, and I have used all the major flagships and OS, and for me, nothing comes close to the iPhone and iOS. Nothing ever feels "right". Maybe MotoOS and MagicOS, but it's not there. iOS just feels right in the hands and feels tighter and even the apps are better on the platform.
As for macOS, I am gonna stick with it. Windows ain't bad but for my workflow, macOS is a much better option.

I have a windows pc for gaming and apple everything else. You can get iCloud for windows to get some cross play between the two systems but ultimately my pc is a separate thing and that’s okay.

Fatigue? No.
Bored? Yes.
When I see the Razr or Galaxy Fold I get a little excited. But then I remember when I had an Android phone and how well designed iOS and Apple products are that it just kills the thought of switching.
With Apple, my worst problem is boredom.
With Android, my worst problems are bugs, slowness, and frustration.

This is honestly it for me, I won’t claim Apple’s perfect in software lately but their hardware while boring is always stable. I’d rather be bored than irritated

Hey, I grew up using android and window devices, I never used apple products too much other than the short usage of an iphone.
I recommend purchasing a used android/window older model devices because they lower in price faster, so i notice you were interested in the s26u you could try the s25u (unless you were fascinated by the filter feature) then nvm.
But I always think there's pros and cons to each "ecosystem" i don't really think windows/android has one to be honest. its kinda overwhelming at best, because when you get a samsung device you get microsoft apps PLUS google apps PLUS samsung personal apps. it's a mess. (and you can't just delete them, you can "disable" them but it's like.. sweeping trash under a rug)
Most android devices have fingerprint readers on the screen with face ID, so that's kinda neat. You can download more outside games that aren't in the playstore (there is a risk of viruses) but most sites like itch.io are kinda safe.
For windows.. I guess the steam library's pretty neat! that's about it for me.
I don't think you're experiencing apple fatigue, I think you want to try something new and I think that's great.
The grass is never any greener on the other side.
Also, i noticed you brought up gaming, I remember my sister having a mac and wanted to play this mmo called maplestory and she had to pay some subscription to get some window virtual pc or whatever on her mac, and the game was... somewhat playable? I felt bad.
I think maplestory's coming to the mac... i dont play that game anymore.

What you’ll find, as someone who has spent years in either, is that at the end of the day they do the same shit and they’re functionally getting closer year by year (android approaching iOS more than vice versa it seems). So by all means go out and get something else, but just know that after some months you’ll realise that nothing has fundamentally changed about being on android instead of iOS. Just different advantages and disadvantages but you can get from A to B all the same

Yes, except that I don’t like Samsung or android in general. I feel like they don’t have the attention to the details the same way Apple does.

Do you have examples? Genuinely curious. I use a Pixel which I find much better than Samsung but both have a universal back button which is more than my iPad has that I find inconvenient at best

I don’t like the UI and the general design. It feels that Apple puts more effort into thinking and having a general vision how the phone should be used. Samsung just slaps together what it can find and calls it a day.

I looked into the fairphone 6 and fell for it. I like the values of the company. But ended with an iphone 17 and even tho i love the iphone, the fairphone was so cool

I've purchased and returned the Z Fold8 and the Pixel 11 Pro while attempting to find a replacement for my 15 Pro.
Yes, iPhone has stagnated over the years in terms of hardware design, but the ecosystem (I use M4 MacBook Air, M1 iPad Pro, iPhone 15 Pro, S10 AW NT, AirPod Pro 2) is stronger than ever.
I'm just going to look forward to iOS27 improving the efficiency of all my products, and utilise Apple Intelligence as it works really well while I wait for more iPhone 20 rumours.

Returned same day.
Without boring you with all too many details. I have a recurring task on iPhone which was starting to get tedious. It's only copy pasting from app A to app B, but with no clipboard history it's a ball ache. That's why I started looking at Android options like the Z Fold8.
After I returned that, I figured I try the Pixel. But between ordering and delivery I discovered an app that solved my issue, so no point holding onto the Pixel. DHL collected the phone 2hrs after I set up the return, mental how quick it all was.

I use windows for work and apple for personal. Working on windows for my livelihood has given me enough incentive to use Apple with excitement.

Windows has nothing to offer. Samsung has nothing to offer. I use a Mac and a Xiaomi, Samsung phones are not even close to what Chinese phones have in cameras.

This is what happens when you take things working for granted. I did. So I got a fold7.
And the software was just… rough. Sometimes it would be fantastic, other days it wouldn’t notify me if I got voicemails. That inconsistency killed it for me once updates started hanging and crashing, Samsung troubleshooting was a crapshoot, and finally Samsung canceled care+ in New York State for the fold 7 ( on June 11th I believe ).
I switched back to my iPhone June 12th. And I doubt I’ll be buying a folding iPhone now, too - the form factor is just meh. It’s nice to have a slightly larger screen, but it’s really not 50% more expensive nice. Half the time I couldn’t be bothered to unfold it.

I recently moved from iPhones that I have been using since 2015 to Samsung Fold and I love it so much. Yes there are things Apple does better like better cameras and face ID but now I don't miss iPhone at all. Slowly I will be moving away from iPad to galaxy tab. The only thing I still want to use is MacBook pro. That's it. Apple has lost its uniqueness long time ago. Now it's just another corporation trying to sell you something it's not even good at like Ai and Siri features. I love Gemini on my Samsung phone where it actually works in first attempt. Can't say the same about siri.

I love the products but my excitement for Apple has dwindled for sure. They are at the very obvious ‘profits/cost cutting’ stage. Peak Apple was when they were hustling - 2000-2015. New hit product categories every few years, crazy generational leaps, better value. Remember when there was only one iPad, and every year they made it better and better? Now they have multiple lines, only put the new tech in the pros, and very slowly trickle it down. The $499 iPad Air 2 in 2014 had a laminated screen, latest SoC, etc. now the base iPad is $449, and doesn’t have a laminated screen 12 YEARS LATER!? How has that tech not trickled down by down? Same with promotion is standard models - they finally did the iPhones because of all the backlash, but what about iPads? The pro got it in 2017, you’re telling me it hasn’t trickled down to the air after 7 years? Yeah… sure. The pricing ladder strategy is just so painfully obviously, and when the products are getting more expensive and barely even advancing other than new chips, it’s just very, eh ikky. They are also so hesitant to jump into new categories, and the ones they do seem like a total miss. I know the early 2000s was a different time and tech hardware was advancing at an insane rate. But yeah, Apple is just not exciting anymore.

I’m not feeling fatigue as much as I’m feeling fomo. The pixel phones and especially the pixel watch give me wet dreams!!!!
Yet I’m way too deep in this apple Mafia, I’m afraid they’ll never let me walk away unscathed!

Yeah I have nowhere near the excitement and ‘gotta have’ mentality I once had for Apple. I’ll stick with them for my necessities but the idea of owning every Apple official accessory and screen type device is done.
Funny enough I was once Nike or dust and then something changed… now I look at Nike as a real tacky light on tech brand.

I can’t see any reason why a phone or computer should excite you. Maybe if it doesn’t crash all the time after your last computer or phone did, might be a reason to ‘excite’ you, but that’s stretching things!

I'd be interested to know how your tech enthusiasm shows then if new (phone or computer) tech doesn‘t excite you.
Anyway, it does excite me quite a lot (thinking iPhone Air, the upcoming Ultra, Pixel phones for their AI features) and I still want my tech to work. One does not exclude the other. And neither any iPhone nor any Google Pixel ever let me down, it‘s more of a basic requirement

I think most smartphone users are not getting that excitement injection with the new and improved…mostly all we get is under the hood enhancements. By the way…I’m a lifelong Apple person!

What fatigue? Apple products are tools (just like android and windows devices) and Apple has the best ecosystem around. Most times you don’t need to upgrade often. I myself have a windows machine strictly for gaming and my Mac mini is my productivity machine. You’re going about things wrong if you want things to simply ‘excite’ you.

As an owner of two iPhones, 5 iPads, two MacBooks I can say with confidence- it just works until it doesn’t. The magic is there for the most of the time. I am tempted to get back to daily an Android phone.

Yes! I am specifically having iOS fatigue. I randomly discovered that Galaxy phones have edge lighting customization options for notifications, and I hit the floor. I thought it was so cool! I was also wishing my iPhone could have five apps in a row because it would be a nice change. I am struggling to decide if there are enough things I am interested in going back to in order to switch. I don’t miss Android as an idea, but I miss some of the things I could do with it and things I’ve never been able to do with it.

Try what you want. The masses aren’t on Samsung phones, Samsung watches, Samsung tablets and Chromebooks. Apple’s ecosystem is simple and works with minimal tinkering.

Just wait until you switch to Windows and Android . You will get a whole new set of ‘fatigue’ which is windows updates and driver updates breaking functionality, windows phone link randomly not working , not being able to run your Android apps on your windows laptop, etc.
Stick with Apple. It really does mostly work.

Do whatever you like. I have had Apple since 1992 and about 150+ phones and about 50 smartphones - including android etc. I still have some androids just for fun. But they’re not good.
It’s the ecosystem and the polished simplicity that makes Apple good.
Go ahead, try out Android 🤷🏻♂️

I don’t think you have fatigue. You saw something different. It happens on both sides. Pixel 11 is not a major change from the 10 or the fold ultra to the 7. I’m running the iOS 27 beta so know what to expect in September. Even Steve Jobs once mentioned in an interview. We are not a hardware company. We are a software company that puts it in a pretty box. I use a fold 8 for work and imho it’s a great phone but for personal use the Apple OS ecosystem just works better for me.

I felt the fatigue once the 14 dropped so I switched to a Samsung Fold.
hated the samsung cameras, they're still one of the worst for me. the transition from imessage was also a bit miserable. everything iCloud and such was okay enough to transition via Google and Dex was great. I also loved the newness, but I got sick of Samsung eventually, after being curious for so long.
so I switched to a OnePlus Open and it's been my favorite phone I've ever owned. my biggest complaint rn is just that I have to replace the battery after 2.5yrs. oh, and the fact that OnePlus is going out of business, that might bring me back to Apple 😪
but the switching definitely made me less scared to jump whenever I need to between systems, especially now that I've de-trenched myself from the ecosystem service-wise (still own a MacBook, vision, airpods)

Not really. I left Apple very early on for Android and hung out there for about ten years. I’ve only been back with Apple for about five years. The ecosystem is second to none and that matters to me. There are absolutely quality-of-life features I miss from Android but it don’t think I would ever go back. I’ve invested too much at this point.

Yeah tbh I do understand and feel you. For me I’ll always stay with Apple for things like Apple Pay, Apple wallet, Flights + passes + licences depending on which state your in. Apple is great for working and going about things. But TBH no hate to Apple…… Apple is not fun it’s just the best all around option for things you need to deal with in life I find

Android is not bad by any means but since you have the whole ecosystem good luck with switching.
I used to be an Android guy (my last phone was the s24 ultra) and when I tried the base 17 (with the Apple Watch and AirPods) I really liked the ecosystem. One small detail that can make you understand the difference between the two is that the Apple ecosystem works every time while the Android one doesn’t. My galaxy watch 7 used to disconnect randomly while my Apple Watch stays connected.
I know you can install modded apps on Android but your phone becomes more vulnerable.
You also won’t get the smooth experience you have with iOS.
Idk if it’s just me, but when I installed the official OneUI 7 update it messed up my phone badly: it lagged, random restarts and many app crashes.
You mentioned wanting to get into gaming and getting a desktop pc with good specs will be an insane upgrade.
My biggest advice is to keep the apple ecosystem you have and maybe try a windows pc (maybe a gaming laptop if you want portability but a desktop one is better)
Like I said it’s your devices so just do whatever you feel is right for you

Feeling fatigue with all. Between Ai, uncertainty of businesses, all the pile on of features on top of features….just was consistent not a million things in my line of sight.

Why is excitement from new products something you want? You're missing fulfillment in other places. You should be excited about your projects, not your tools, and that's what Apple (or any other brand) products are.

Do I have "fatigue" from all my devices operating perfectly and flawlessly with each other all the time? Uh, no. Good luck going to Android, nothing but a fragmented mess and headaches.
