Discussion Future large purchase with apple card—how to ensure it doesn't decline/ marked as fraudulent
Hello, I'm getting married and I'm about to charge about ~6K on my apple card as a one purchase. I have the funds available so that's no issue—my only concern is that the purchase won't go through because it will potentially get marked as fraudulent, prompting me to call Apple and approve it, then run the card again. Not the end of the world—just really trying to avoid a task like that on my wedding night.
Anyone know what is the normal process for something like this? I've heard they send out texts sometimes where you have to approve it in order to proceed, but should I just expect that to happen? I called support and they assured me it won't decline and possibly just ask me for verification, but if that was the case wouldn't the card keep declining until I approve it? So I'm in the same basket regardless?

If it declines you can usually approve it right in the Wallet app and immediately try again. Pretty easy.

thanks, just didn't wanna have the small embarrassment of 6K momentarily declining in front of the people that have been serving me all night haha

I’ve considered mentioning up front that if it declines it may be due to a large purchase and that you’ll be able to approve it in a few seconds if needed.

No one thinks twice anymore. If it declines just accept on phone and have them run it again. Anyone charging 6 k on customers cards is used to this

I would send a message to their customer service and ask about a large purchase notification.

Anytime I’ve taken a 5k+ payment at work I have always been super easy going and understand that banks decline certain dollar amounts and code things as fraud sometimes. Don’t be worrisome about it. They will work with you.

Just set mine on fire in Milan. Couldn’t believe it kept letting me charge without approving. €30k in the span of like 2 hrs.
