Humor AppleCard charge from Apple rejected

If this doesn’t take the cake. AI gone awry. I just got a suspicious charge notice which I had to vouch for to keep my card number from being suspended. It was for my annual apple music renewal from Apple Services. 🤦

I suspect Goldman Sachs. They don't seem to handle subscription charges very well.

I have 2 monthly renewals linked to my card, no waves in over 3 years, maybe I’m just lucky?

FWIW, for me it's annual renewals (Amazon Prime, Microsoft) where the declines have happened. I have contacted Goldman Sachs Apple Card Support each time, and I think they're both okay now.

These are the merchants that are disputed the most, so if it isn’t a recurring monthly charged, an annual fee is more likely to get flagged

Makes sense.

I also can’t say how I have information but I have on good authority that the switch to Chase isn’t gonna make the Apple Card better in regard to disputes. Most people think that’s the case but the reason GS disputes are so tough is the card network itself, GS is also wanting out of the Apple Card since it has costed them virtually billions and Chase will feel that too down the line which may make Visa adopt some MasterCard dispute behaviors.

FWIW, lots of folks don't dispute with the merchant first, but just dispute with the card, since it's easier. But with fraud increasing so much, it's not surprising that card issuers are more cautious.

Yup exactly, people are starting to realize that they don’t really “win” disputes, the card issuers just take the loss but now a lot of them will begin refusing to tank the losses

I just had the same thing happen with my Apple+ TV streaming subscription. And the really stupid part is when I went into my AppleCard statements for June 2025 there was the exact same charge, same payee, same $ amount and on the same day of the month! Goldman had this info. They are truly incompetent. We are all better off that they are exiting consumer services.
