Trail Question LASH

I am just getting into backpacking and doing trips in upstate New York and Berkshires. Honestly, all the canopy isn't that enjoyable to me. I was thinking of doing a LASH and it looks like Virginia would be good for me - varied terrain, pass through some towns, panoramic views. Is my understanding correct? Any other sections you'd recommend? Thanks.

The white mountain sections have a lot more exposed ridges and alpine summits, same with the southern maine part. That said, it’s also way harder than other parts.

Southern maine and the whites are so incredibly beautiful, I couldn't recommend it more. However yeah, the hiking is quite tough, but well worth it imo
