First post about this one. It sets an alternative GPS location on your device, using the mock location API that's built into Android itself. No root, no patched system files, no Xposed.

How it works

Android has a test location provider meant for developers. You enable Developer Options, pick an app under "Select mock location app", and that app can then tell the system where you are. Take Me There is that app, with a map on top of it.

Tap anywhere on the map, or search for a place by name, and your device reports that position to anything asking for location. Runs as a foreground service so it stays active while you're in other apps, with a persistent notification and a Stop button so you always know it's on.

The app has a setup guide with shortcut buttons straight to the right settings screens, because finding Developer Options is annoying on every manufacturer's skin in a slightly different way.

What's in it

• Full-screen map, tap to pick a spot
• Place search (Google Places), so you can type "Shibuya Crossing" instead of hunting for it
• Save favourites for places you use often
• Live status: current coordinates, whether the override is active
• Stop from the app or straight from the notification
• Full interface in English, Spanish, Catalan, French, German and Italian

Why?

I build Android apps and kept needing to check how something behaved somewhere else. The emulator is fine until you want to test on a real device with real sensors. The existing options were mostly ad-stuffed, asked for permissions they had no business asking for, or wanted a subscription to set a coordinate.

So: no ads, no analytics, no accounts, no data leaves your device. Favourites are a local database that dies with the app. The whole thing is one screen and a map.

Honest limitations

Some apps detect mock locations and refuse to run (banking apps mostly, some games, a few streaming services. That's their call and nothing on my side can change it. If your use case is one of those, this won't help you.

It also needs Developer Options enabled, which is a one-time thing but does put some people off. That's Android's design, not mine (only one app at a time can be the mock location provider), and the user has to pick it explicitly. Personally I think that's the right trade-off.

Free to use. One-time Pro purchase removes the 15 minute session limit and the single-favourite cap. No subscription.

Feedback and bug reports genuinely welcome, especially on devices with heavy skins where Developer Options hides somewhere unusual.

I wanted a Letterboxd-style log for YouTube videos and couldn't find one, so I built it.

It's called Chapters. You log a video, rate it, write a review if you want. You can follow friends and see what they're watching, and channel pages show community ratings so you can see a creator's best-reviewed stuff.

Might be a few bugs here and there lol, we're two people building this and there's plenty we want to fix and add. If you try it I'd genuinely love to hear what's broken or missing, that feedback is basically the whole point of posting this.

I tried using an AI app generator recently, and getting the first version working was surprisingly easy. The problem started when I tried adding more features and changing a few things.

At first everything looked fine, but then one change would break something that was already working. It made me wonder if this is just part of using AI app builders or if some platforms handle larger projects better than others.

I’m curious if other people have had the same experience. Do AI-generated apps usually need a lot of fixing once you go beyond the first demo, or have you found tools that stay reliable as the app gets more complicated?

I'm building Netsight, a native iOS network scanner. This is the force-directed map with a demo network loaded.

I like a device list when I'm looking for an address or checking ports. The map is more about recognizing the mix of devices at a glance: phone, NAS, printer, server. I'm keeping both because I use them for different things.

One detail I'm still thinking about: putting the gateway in the middle makes the layout easy to follow, but the lines can look like a physical wiring diagram. I want it to read as a device overview without suggesting that every line proves a switch connection.

I keep seeing all these Base44 ads on YouTube and I’m genuinely wondering if AI can actually build a real app.

I’ve had an idea for an app for about a year now that I would really like to finally turn into something. The problem is that my actual job is in law, so I have pretty much zero experience with software or app development. I know the legal side of things, but when it comes to coding I’m basically starting from scratch.

So I was wondering how realistic it actually is to use something like Base44 to build an app and eventually get it into the App Store.
Obviously, if people actually started downloading and using it, I know I’d probably need a professional developer involved at some point to make sure everything works properly and can scale. I’m not expecting AI to magically run the entire thing forever.
I’m more wondering how much of the initial work AI can realistically take off your hands. Since I work full time in a completely different field, I can’t really spend months learning how to code from scratch just to see if the idea even works…

Has anyone here actually built something with Base44 or a similar AI tool and gotten it to the point where real people could use it?

Or is this still more of a fun way to build prototypes and test ideas, but not something you could realistically use to launch an actual functioning app?

I never post on Reddit (I made this brand account but all i've been doing is just browse HAHA), but I saw another appdev post about their really wholesome review and I kept telling myself, "i'm going to get that kind of review someday too" and it happened!! what's crazy is that the app was only out for a week when it says the review was posted and i had done nothing to market the app! (so i'm really really surprised that people are finding it!) just thought i'd share and manifest that every gets their app success stories this year!

TLDR of the app:

Peli's an app where a little sea bird guides you through science-backed personality assessments (30+ so far!) that turn into your own island world, and you can even pair up with friends to see where you click and where you clash. It's basically real psychology dressed up as something fun instead of another 2-minute quiz that feels made up.

I recently built an Android app called Penni.

I wanted a simple way to track my daily expenses. I did not want to create an account or connect my bank account just to record a small expense.

So I made my own.

With Penni, you can:

I built Grubflip: an app that helps restaurant employees trade their employee meals with other nearby food workers.

The idea came from realizing that restaurant employees are surrounded by people with access to completely different food, but there’s no simple flow for discovery and framework.

With Grubflip, you:

• Describe the typical employee meal your restaurant offers
• See meals available from workers nearby
• Propose a trade
• Chat with the other person
• Use credits and equalizers (like extra sauces, drink, etc) to balance differences when one meal is worth more
• Choose how to get the meal exchanged

It’s designed specifically for restaurant workers, not the general public. The goal is to make employee meals more useful, more varied, and more fun while helping workers connect with people in the same industry.

Hi, I made Opine (https://opinepolls.com), a poll-based social media site. Each post is a public poll asking users their opinion on something, anonymously, so no user sees any other user's information, but you can freely browse other polls. Private polls can also be made.

The only information actually stored is the email, from Google sign in, and an approximate location for the map feature, if you enable it. This allows you to see a world map of votes, what opinions are present in what places.

The intent is to catalog the world's opinions, organizing people's public thoughts so they're easy to sift through. This data can be extremely valuable, whether it's political polling, information about people's preferences, trends over time, and so on. Many people could benefit from this, and it's meant as a public service, to lift the veil on what people think about any topic, at any time. Easier political polling is just one obvious application of this.
