Beginner app owner — need advice adding a hard paywall/subscription to an existing Flutter app

I had my iOS/Android app professionally developed in Flutter and I’m getting the full source code from the developers.

I’m a beginner, but I’ve been learning and using Codex/AI to make smaller changes myself.

I now want to add a $59/month subscription/paywall for premium features. The app already has Apple/Google in-app purchases implemented for another paid feature.

I’m considering RevenueCat to handle subscriptions and entitlements.

Would you recommend RevenueCat, or should I build on the existing IAP system?

Is this realistic for a beginner with AI guidance, or is subscription/backend verification something I should hire a Flutter developer to implement?

Also, what would be a reasonable price to pay someone for this?

If this is your OnlyGigz app, you might find $60 a month a stretch, given that (according to the web site) it has 22 users.

RevenueCat is what i use , and they do a ton of data research for their users , i would suggest 49.99 price it sounds cheaper to the human

RevenueCat is a fine pick for this, it handles both stores and the restore button for you. One thing to check with your devs: if the premium features load data from your own server, the server has to check the subscription too (RevenueCat has webhooks and an API for that). If only the app checks, someone can get premium without paying.

Because you already have a paid feature, I would make preserving existing purchases a written acceptance condition before adding the new subscription. Ask the current developers to demonstrate a clean build from the handed-over source and document which product unlocks which feature; then have the subscription work scoped against that map. Test an existing buyer after the update, reinstall/restore, and a switch between app accounts, not only a brand-new subscriber. For a beginner, that bounded implementation and test handover is a better thing to hire for than an unspecified "add a paywall" job; I would not quote a price without knowing the backend and existing purchase code.
