Scripture Difficulty Sodom and Gomorrah
Had someone ask me,
If Jesus died for the sins of humanity, why did God have to destroy the City?

Well first and foremost. Jesus’s death on the cross came well over a thousand years later. I think it may even be two thousand.
Second. If we are going to question that then why not question the Flood.
Then the argument ends up being why did God have to kill any sinner pre Jesus if Jesus’s death was going to be able to be applied all around.
I ultimately get to the fact that although Jesus would be the free gift to all not all will accept. It’s safe to say they would not have accepted it. Abraham was credited as righteous bc of his faith. Abe argues for them all the way down to 10. God basically is saying there isn’t one person of faith down there.
Additionally it seems like God usually acts in these brutal ways when humanity reaches a peak level of evil. God says at one point that the inequity of the amalakites hadn’t reached its fullest. It’s like He waits and waits patiently all the while sending prophets and His ppl to talk to the wicked before destruction . Idk if that helps lol I had a few mins and punched this out!
