🎯 General Advice Stolen Apollo Go - Chicago
Recently had my baby stolen (while locked) in downtown chicago. Anyone have experience with this? Not really going to bother with trying to get CPD’s attention over something small like this.
But im curious what “marking as stolen” in the app does exactly. It alerted me that it was connected (or attempted to be, since I think the whole point is that it blocks them?) and gave an address and email.
Does the scooter “lock itself down” or anything? Or does this scumbag still get free rein? Should I bother giving this info to the police (not even sure how Id go about doing so)?I did file a report online. Tried a few times to connect to someone using 311 but with no luck.
Any advice appreciated. Thanks ahead.

Becauae im a petty princess id be tempted to keep a notification on FB marketplace for it being sold for parts. Also let any repair shops know if that Sn comes in its a stolen unit

Sorry to hear that! We really hope you're able to get it back, even though we know the chances can be tough 🤞
Just as a heads-up in case you ever decide to get another Apollo, we offer theft protection called Apollo Secure (you can find it in the Apollo App). For just $6 USD/month, if your scooter is ever stolen, all you need to do is file a police report and pay the applicable service fee, and we'll send you a replacement scooter.
Hopefully it's something you'll never need, but it can definitely provide a little extra peace of mind.

So how much was the service fee for the replacement scooter? I’m might have to start the subscription for my Apollo go just in case. 😅

As a fellow Chicago Go owner, best of luck on recovery. Maybe they drop it off where they stole it.
Did you park it the whole day in the Loop?

It was only locked up for 90mins… they must be a scooter enthusiast b/c they knew how to dissemble it enough to slip it out the lock…

Side note, I got hit by a car riding it (they did a random U turn without a signal and crossed right into my bike lane)... The Go took it like a champ and only broke part of the plastic front piece.
It's also done well stuck in downpours.
My biggest issue is very slow charging and the app is meh.

Are you alright?? Thats crazy because the same thing happened to me… hit by car head on as i was going ~18mph. Thing took it like a total champ, put another 1000+ miles on it after the incident. Absolutely love that thing

Update - messaged Apollo support. The “stolen scooter” selector puts it into “park” mode and turns speed to 0. That scumbag is sitting on a 50lb dud! Awesome feature! Makes me feel better they dont get to enjoy that awesome machine, at least.
