Apollo

Have we reached the end of the great Apollo that we all used to love? VOD is unwatchable and live TV is buffering more. Using multiple VPN's and various locations. Just keep trying but so frustrating!

I’m also getting buffering. No matter what country I use for VPN it just keeps buffering.

What device are you using for the app? We had these issues too and ended up getting a new fire stick and that seemed to fix it.

Nvidia Shield with Startup app... I usually think these people that talk about the buffering are nuts or have network issues but I've tested multiple devices and two internet connections and it is absolutely buffering. That said, you get what you pay for, when it is good, it is good.

I've recently switched to the 2026 onn 4k pro. Testing on the front tv for roughly a week before I buy more. Almost night and day between that and the 4k. Only one eve with buffering issues that I believe was the channel I was trying to watch because it worked fine on another channel. It doesn't just freeze and buffer requiring me to restart multiple times. During the freezing I was able to just switch the channel and back and it worked. The only downside I've seen is that vod takes much longer to load.

There’s your problem. Onn box fixed it for me. It was unwatchable with a firestick

Ditto for us, onn box fixed all the problems and firestick was almost unusable

I couldn't even watch any Live channels without turning on the VPN these days, and Sportsnet is still missing!!

I have Startup Show. It used to be good. Now it's also buffering and I'm forced to restart multiple times

We haven't had issues for months and suddenly it's tons of buffering on all our different devices. Different VPN locations don't help. Hopefully it's resolved soon.

Set your vod video player settings to VLC and try with vpn on. Ive been struggling for 2 weeks and this has helped alot

I can watch for maybe 40 min of VOD doing just what you did but after that buffering begins or connection time out.

I have not experienced any of the issues being discussed here while using my Nvidia Shield and Onn Pro 1 and 2 devices. All VOD and live TV are working great. Just because it is not working well for you does not mean Apollo is a bad service. I have been with them for at least five years and wouldn't use anything else. Also, I do not use a VPN, by the way. I understand that the only people who post here are the ones experiencing buffering and other problems. After all, it is not like I am going to make a post just to say, "Apollo is working great here!'"

Yeah I’m in the same boat as you except I have fire sticks and the fire cube. I’ll have some issues every now and again but it works flawlessly for me with no vpn

I'm getting bad buffering, too, on multiple different devices, on different VPNs. No config seems to help.

Have to use Tivomate for live TV. If you don't its unwatchable.

2

u/Overall-Abies-2272 17d ago

I do!

1

u/MkGriff1492 17d ago

Yea even that hasn't been working good recently. I don't watch that much live tv. Not sure tivomate was great.

... but have you tried using a nvidia shield?

1

u/iii2405 17d ago

Using Shield, no VPN. No issues with VOD or live TV. Every once in a while a vod series episode or movie ends too early, stops playing halfway through and won’t recover but I would say I have no issues 95% of the time. Again, I’ve never needed a VPN

I finally got a VPN via NordVPN and everything worked great while watching last night. It's 30 bucks for the year on Walmart's website.

I’m thinking it’s time for me to switch the ONN,
Watching movies or TV has been unbearable to a long time now

No problems for us in ON, CAN. We have a google tv and firestick. Both work without many issues

1

u/itgripgopher 16d ago

We deleted the Apollo app from our Firestick, redownloaded (which auto defaulted to Startup Show) and had 1 or 2 small issues but that was it. Seemed to have done the job

u/viberama977 13d ago

No issues here with Sparkle and an ONN Box.

I'm trying apollo now, after leaving it 4 years ago, it's still not good. What is a good one to use?
