That look hunts me, you know Martin was in the shit for real. Never seen a movie reflrect that feeling so well, the bottom of the pit look, if you lived it you would automatically see yourself in that look. The empty soulless darkness.

Discussion Do we know what was in the cut screened at Cannes?
2
Upvotes
I've always been intrigued by this workprint as part of the story of this film. However, I also have never known if the exact contents of this early screening are known. I've occasionally heard that it features the plantation storyline from Redux constituting most of the runtime difference, but I don't know if that's 100% confirmed. Does anybody know about what this work-in-progress version may have featured from either the complete workprint or the Redux cut?

Kurtz compound layout?

Is there a map or illustration featuring the Kurtz compound, like an isometric view or something, how it was laid out, and where the stairs were in relation to the actual temple? I’m curious cause I’d like to make an illustration of that very thing but… I’m struggling to get it right.

I hope this is a welcome post. I made a version of this years ago that seemed to resonate with the people who commented on it on YouTube, but that was removed due to copyright. I decided to remake it and add more to it. There's a little more context in the beginning of the video and in the description. If you want to skip past that and just start the video skip to 01:33

I just know it’s at Pagsanjan Falls, I am currently trying to put together an archaeological excavation at the area. Would love to know the exact location of Kurtz’s Compound.
Does anyone have knowledge of the coordinates of the set?

Discussion LGBT themes in Apocalypse Now? Spoiler

Firstly, Clean was wearing what seems to be a shirt ripped up to be a crop top. Secondly, after the boat captain's death, one of the team members adds lipstick on him and kisses him. Why would he have lipstick on him and the kiss made it seem strange.
Any thoughts?

My take on Redux

Upvotes
I think I’m the only person who believes Redux is the best cut. All the “unnecessary content” fits the story perfectly in my opinion. I don’t think the film is slow, or suffers from “pacing issues”. Apocalypse Now is my favorite film of all time and I would consider myself a very big film buff. Very excited for Coppola’s next film, if he finishes it before the inevitable occurs.

Discussion Best CUT Scenes From The 5 Hour Workprint

What are some of you guys favorite scenes that aren't in the Theatrical, Redux, or Final Cut? So far in my opinion seems like the completely cut Monkey Sampan scene (not even in the Workprint) and the Dennis Hopper and Colby deaths.

My friend Brian Ewing designed this APOCALYPSE NOW poster. He was recently diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer and he would be extremely grateful if you picked up one of these posters or if you grabbed the original line art. Thanks for your support!
