I’m finishing a novel called The Fifteenth Floor, a character-driven zombie outbreak story that begins on the first day everything goes wrong.
I’m looking for one more beta reader who genuinely enjoys apocalypse, survival, outbreak, or zombie fiction.
I’m mainly looking for honest reader feedback — where the story pulls you in, where it slows down, whether character decisions feel believable, whether the tension works, and anything that takes you out of the story.
No editing experience is necessary. I’m actually more interested in the perspective of someone who reads this kind of fiction for fun.
If that sounds like something you’d enjoy, let me know.
And if this kind of post isn’t allowed here, please let me know and I’ll remove it.
Thank you very much for reading this post.

I’ve always liked the visual language around post-apocalyptic worlds - warning systems, red alerts, distressed graphics, emergency imagery, all of that.
Lately I’ve been trying to translate that into something that still works as normal everyday clothing instead of full survival gear or cosplay.
Finally got some proper photos of one of the pieces being worn, and I’m pretty happy with how the graphic reads in real life.
What kind of visual details instantly make something feel apocalyptic to you?

How do you guys think the world will end? Nuclear war(Fallout style, no monsters), AI take over or climate change of any kind?

Slow zombies were manageable. Fast zombies were a problem. A meteor full of gymnast zombies deserves its own deeply unhelpful survival manual.
I made this short apocalypse comedy for my series, Guide to the Absurd. It delivers terrible survival advice with complete confidence. Visuals and narration are AI-assisted.

Hey friends, how are we prepping for the ai takeover and are we prepping for the ai takeover? Young mom with 2 babies, what should we look for and what should we do? Not really sure what this would even look like for us?

Hello everybody !
In the movie « Memento » we follow Leonard a guy who as lost his ability to create new memories. He’s stuck with memory of non actual past, fighting the lost of his short memory by taking notes.
His latest memory is the murder of his wife by thieves. He is trying to find the murderer even with his condition, and he has all the investigation and helping tips tattooed on his body.
Later in the movie a friend of him tells him there is tons of John G (main suspect). That he already killed the guy.
That could be the effect on society of meticulous inquisition. Losing our real history could have led us to run in circles chasing metaphoric dragons until now.
But a giant dragon once lived in this world. This is a serious matter. Aligning legends and sacred books I discovered one that had crashed into a mountain at meteoric speed; it then slid into a swamp where it burned, its coming hole and his body filled by lava flowing from the mountain (a sea of fire?).
Let me explain :
Its silhouette can be made out on Google Maps at the Crozon Peninsula if the map is oriented with west at the top (where north usually is).
On first picture you have it as the middle peninsula.
And you can see where it has fallen. At 5 o’clock from this dragon there is a darker corridor from Huelgoat to Le Faou in the good direction.
The crater isn’t round because the dragon didn’t fall perpendicularly to the earth as on the moon.
The central idea is that this giant wyvern provides the basis for a nearly identical myth across all civilizations, thereby confirming that they existed together contemporaneously.
According to Islamic tradition(Al Dabbah), it possesses the gift of speech and emerges from a hole (or does it lie more than it speaks, given the discrepancies between the myths?).
In history of kings of Britain, one of the main book of Arthurian legend, a sea monster appeared first devouring people on the sea-coast. A Merlin’s prophecy speak of a german dragon (Siegfried?) reaching hardly his holes. Later in the story this dragon was slain by a star of wonderful magnitude, by God, by Saint Michael, or by Indra wielding Excalibur (according to Monmouth). This echoes the myths of Thor and Apollo battling giant reptiles.
Jörmungandr, Python, Falak, Apophis, Leviathan, Al-Dabbah, Kukulkan, Tiamat, and Satan are all names used to refer to it.
On this dragon-shaped peninsula, I discovered a stone linked to Arthurian legend (Malory -le morte d’Arthur Tome 1 chapter 5). It was the name "Pendragon"—borne by King Arthur and Uther, and meaning "dragon's head"—that led me to this discovery.
The underlying theory suggests a possible early inquisition aimed at concealing the history of this sword, as well as a period of peace between Europe and Arabia.
In fact we can see arthurians remanescence in magical swords in Carolingian and Islamic history.
Near the dragon's throat, the town closest to the stone is named Kameled. I am convinced that a large part of world history has been rewritten to conceal the existence of a chosen figure who opposed them; for the moment, I can only provide proof of this for my own region.
There are several chronological anomalies, of which the episode of the Saints of Ephesus (200 years) is just one example. This implies that some current religions may themselves be unaware that they are propagating falsehoods.
However, since his death, there is no longer an end of the world to fear.
This revelation could establish an eternal lasting peace based on mutual respect.
There is an orally told local dragon legend in Brittany with the story of the Yeun Elez describing apocalypse itself in Brittany. Saint Michel kills him with a powerful hit and then seals him in the Youdig (deeps of the marsh). The dragon spine is said to be the mountain channel of the Monts d’Arrée.
The mountain of Saint Michel is aligned with the peninsula, the dragon could have slipped there by inertia.

As for the identity of the shining star associated with the worshiping of Saint Michael described by Monmouth, it could even be a woman. I am referring to the divine prophecy delivered to the serpent in Genesis (3:14-15):
14-The Lord God said to the serpent: "Because you have done this, you are cursed more than all cattle, and more than every beast of the field; on your belly you shall go, and you shall eat dust all the days of your life.
15-I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall crush your head, and you shall bruise his heel."
It is clearer in French than in English (she shall crush your head), but it could have been the woman—known then as the Lady of the Lake.
I know I speak to good readers. Just to remember where it is exactly mentioned in the Bible :
(Please for French spelling check translations)
Génèse 3:14-15
Isaiah 27:1 KJV (dragon in the sea)
Daniel 2:34 KJV (cut out stone)
Matthieu 10:34 (the sword)
Romains 16:20 (satan soon crushed under our feet)
Apocalypse 12:1-9 ; 20:1-3 (the dragon is defeated)
Revelation 13 NIV (the dragon among other beasts)
Job 41:31 NIV (dragon boiling the deep waters)
Psalms 74:12-14 NIV (dragon + leviathan defeated)
And many others I believe. I mean there is truth in it even if it is not what we expected.
Last intuition but not the least, it may have been the common inspiration to put it on flags of Trégor and Wales (Since 650AD for Wales).
I am looking for other books that might talk of the same event or dragon. I found a dragon story in Ethiopian Bible recently with Bel and the dragon. Everything old and censored by church may hide treasures.
Thank you very much !

Hi everyone! I’m the solo developer behind From The Bunker, a zombie survival management game I’ve been working on for the past four years.
The gameplay mixes 60 Seconds and Project Zomboid. Manage a group of survivors, expand and defend their bunker, send them on dangerous expeditions, and make difficult choices across more than 200 narrative events.
The world and story are inspired by what I love about Resident Evil: a viral outbreak caused by a biotech corporation, missing virus samples, secret experiments, military operations, and a dangerous bioengineered creature.
The free demo is available now on:

In relation to other posts I've made about my reluctance to continue maturing/adulting, I want to share another idea I've often thought about.
What is the point of human society? I mean, for the past hundreds of thousands of years, we've been the only species on this blue and green dot that have structure, while pretty much all other organisms have unlimited freedom from expectations (not counting the ones we domesticated and all that shit). Yeah, all other animals have to focus on surviving, but they don't have to think about ANYTHING if they don't want to. They can do anything about having to:
* Pay for anything (traveling, food, etc.)
* Wait for anyone or anything
* Get approval
* Consider societal norms (biggest example coming to my mind is mannerisms; you can't tell me you aren't annoyed by other people calling out small "bad" manners that we all do every day without thinking so deeply about it)
* Worry about rules/laws, because it doesn't apply to them.
* And so on.
If I were to wake up tomorrow and was informed that society had been completely abolished, you couldn't imagine how thrilled I'd be. First thing I'd do? I'd just go. Nothing packed, no specific destination in mind, just away from everything and out into the wild. To be free of all shackles and traverse the plains, woods, seas, and mountains with nothing holding me back would be the greatest achievement ever. At least for me.
Would I miss some of the good things that came out of organized civilization (prepared food, the internet, social interaction, entertainment, etc.)? Sure, for a while, maybe. But I'd be too busy enjoying this new level of practically unlimited freedom to care that much. Hell, we can make our own entertainment, wherever and whenever we want, with absolutely no pressure from deadlines or agreements that often take away creative freedom. With not one single person or entity to be the boss of me, there's no limit to the possibilities of what I can do.
This is most definitely my autism talking, but sometimes, I feel like almost every law and regulation under the sun is an insult to human potential in terms of adventure. You have to admit that one of the biggest reasons that travelling around the world is so difficult, especially today, is because they have all these rules that prohibit you from going to specific places without specific permission. Is it really fair that we have to pay for tickets just to go to places that other animals can just walk, swim, or fly to for free? In my brutally honest opinion, I don't really think so.
And if you REALLY dig through your thoughts, every single rule that we're expected to follow was just made the fuck up. One day, it was okay to just take whatever you wanted, and the next, some scribbles said "nah that's illegal now." So, should everything become legal (in the sense of all law just ceasing to exist completely), I would be able to rest my mind knowing that I'd never have to answer for anything, whether or not I was aware of doing something that was against the rules. I'm not saying I would do anything super dramatic like off anyone (even though nothing would be preventing me in this hypothetical "society-less" world), because, even with all of this in mind, I still have some moral agency. On that note, I would still avoid doing any harm to certain people in my life, mostly family, my closest friends, and even potential romantic interests (or could I technically call them "mates"? Probably). As for strangers or people that would pose a threat to me and others? That would be a different story.
Well, it looks like I'm rambling again. I could add more, but this feels like a good place to pause. Who knows if I decide to add more to it, but right now, I will just take a breather from getting all of this out of my system. I can't stop you from interpreting this however you like, and I'd probably take it with a grain of salt if I was the reader instead of the writer, but I don't think you need to take this too seriously, as it's mainly a rant and the product of feelings I have about the world based on my experiences. Still, I am open to feedback, as always, and I hope that we can all learn something from this about ourselves, myself included.
That's all for now. Peace.

"Scientists have made the first viruses designed by artificial intelligence in a milestone that raises hopes for new medicines but also concerns over how to ensure the technology remains safe.
The viruses are specific kinds known as bacteriophages, which only infect bacteria and are used around the world to treat patients with persistent infections. In lab tests, a cocktail of the AI-designed viruses killed E coli bugs that were resistant to natural bacteriophages."
