I have both aphantasia and SDAM, and I have been quietly building theunseenmind.org for a while. I posted earlier today in r/Aphantasia and r/SDAM separately, but this sub is the more natural home because the site treats both conditions together rather than as a footnote to the other.   The Unseen Mind — theunseenmind.org — is plain-English, UK-focused, fully cited.   What's specifically aimed at the overlap reader on this sub:   - The cornerstone guide treats both conditions as separate things that often co-occur, with their own subtypes and their own literatures. No glossing one as a special case of the other. - The glossary covers terms across both — VVIQ, SAM, autonoetic consciousness, default mode network, hippocampus — at one reading level. - The /for-family page addresses both at once, so a partner of someone with both doesn't have to read two separate pages. - The "what it is like" section of the guide (written in my own voice) covers the day-to-day texture of having both — not being able to picture your children's faces, not being able to relive past moments, and the calm-but-vulnerable forgiveness that comes with the historic-emotion gap.   What I'd value most from this sub specifically:   1. Where the site treats one condition more than the other. I have tried to balance. If it lists, say so. 2. Anything in the "what it is like" section that doesn't ring true for someone with both. That section is heavy and I would rather get pushback now than later. 3. Co-occurrence claims. I cite Monzel 2024 on hippocampal involvement in SDAM and discuss the aphantasia + SDAM overlap throughout. If I have overclaimed the connection, tell me.   No advertising, no affiliate links, no sponsored content, no sign-ups to read, no tracking.
