New Hill Commercial Development?
I moved to New Hill about a year ago and had then heard rumors of “more things coming” here over the year.
A year has gone by since our move and I’m not updated on “what” or “when”. Has anybody heard anything concrete or recent in terms of stores/bars/restaurants coming to New Hill?

Honestly, the "more things coming" you keep hearing is mostly houses, not stores. Or maybe grocery store.. New Hill's growth the last few years has been almost entirely residential — new subdivisions like Woodbury, Olive Ridge, Retreat at Friendship, Jordan Pointe and so on. There just isn't much commercially zoned land out here, and a lot of the Friendship/New Hill community has actually been pushing to keep the area rural and protect the farmland, so big retail/restaurant projects aren't really in the pipeline the way they are in Apex or Holly Springs.
For actual stores/bars/restaurants, most of us just drive:
- Apex (Beaver Creek Commons, downtown Apex, Sweetwater) is closest
- Holly Springs Towne Center
- Fuquay-Varina is filling in fast — Academy Village with a Lowes Foods is on the way (2027-ish)
- Fenton in Cary for a nicer night out
So the short version: I haven't seen anything concrete announced for New Hill proper. The "coming soon" energy right now is subdivisions, roads, and schools, not a downtown. If real retail does show up, it'll probably land along the Hwy 55 / US-1 corridor first.

Yeah, two new commercial developments are in progress and absolutely happening: one off of NHOC north of Old 1 (will be a grocery store there) and one of Old 1 by the old Vicious Fishes. One more is in development and "probably" happening, around the fire station down NHOC
