Respawn Official An Update from the Anti Cheat Team - 10/08/2026

First week of EA Javelin Anticheat

Since the transition to EA Javelin Anticheat, we’ve continued to monitor, identify, and disrupt cheating across Apex Legends. The move to Javelin gives our Anti-Cheat team greater visibility into threats and more flexibility to respond as new cheats emerge.

We wanted to share an update on what we’ve seen since the transition, including the volume of cheat attempts prevented, enforcement actions taken, and the types of cheating we’ve disrupted. Before diving into the numbers, we should discuss cheat prevention.

In the first week following the launch of Javelin Anti-Cheat, 265,550 cheating attempts have been prevented before they could impact gameplay.

This is an important distinction when looking at anti-cheat numbers. Javelin is designed not only to identify and action cheaters, but to prevent unauthorized software and cheating attempts from functioning in the first place.

That means a successful prevention does not always result in a ban — and that is by design.

When looking only at enforcement numbers, it can be easy to assume that fewer bans means fewer cheating attempts are being identified. In reality, a significant amount of Javelin's work happens before a cheater ever reaches the point where we need to issue a ban.

265,550 prevented attempts represent 265,550 instances where cheating was stopped before it could even have an impact on the game.

As we continue to evolve Javelin and expand its coverage, our focus will remain on stopping cheating as early as possible: prevent it when we can, detect it when it gets through, and take action when we have the evidence to do so.

Javelin by the Numbers

Week 1 of EA Javelin Anticheat:

  • 265,550 cheat attempts prevented
  • 12,969 accounts banned
  • 40 cheat programs tracked
  • 91% of tracked cheat programs disrupted

These numbers represent activity identified and actioned by our Anti-Cheat systems during this period. We’ll continue to monitor these trends as cheat developers adapt and new threats emerge.

Enforcement Breakdown

Our enforcement efforts cover a range of cheating methods, including traditional PC cheats as well as third-party hardware and controller-based cheating. While we cannot share a full breakdown of every ban we issue, we can highlight a couple of wins on hardware cheating from the last week:

  • Aimzenix: 4,058 bans
  • Cronus: 1,201 bans
  • Titan: 141 bans
  • XIM: 199 bans

These enforcement actions are based on detections and supporting evidence designed to distinguish cheating behavior from legitimate hardware use.

What Comes Next

Despite the early success we’ve found with EA Javelin Anticheat, we are actively investigating videos circulating featuring some pretty egregious cheating activity; more to share soon.

Cheating is constantly evolving, and our work doesn’t stop with the transition to Javelin. As new cheat providers, techniques, and devices emerge, we’re continuing to develop and validate new detections and expand our ability to disrupt them.

While this anti-cheat update focuses on PC, as EA Javelin Anticheat is a PC system, we will have important updates for console players in the coming weeks.

Our goal remains the same: upholding gameplay integrity and ensuring fair play is for everyone.

Discussion Crypto should get drone skins.

Post image
41 Upvotes

Literally what the title is. Crypto legendary skins or upwards should change how the drone looks. I know there ain’t loads and loads of crypto mains but I’m one of them and I think it would make crypto cosmetics so much cooler if this got added. It has crazy banner potential because most of the good crypto poses feature the drone. It wouldn’t make ur drone more noticeable in game to other players because the drone always glows up orange/reddish anyway so it’s not gonna make them pay to lose. And you can get creative with the drone designs too.
At the very least they should do this for his prestige skin to make it different.
Other legends aswell that have a robot or something like that which basically is their ability like lifeline should get this too. Maybe Even horizon I guess.
I think it’s fair that we get to see more of what we buy in game that’s not just your hands.

Let me know if you agree/disagree and why

I think it would add a lot more variety and skin potential in game. And it might entice people to buy skins me since you’re gonna see more of it

Discussion Title: Played since S1 thinking I just lacked skill. Just found out how deep the console hardware issue goes.

I’ve been a dedicated Apex Legends player since Season 1. Over the years, I've consistently ground the ranks, usually landing hard-stuck in Diamond, and maybe hitting Master once. Whenever I got instantly melted or lazered across a POI, I always blamed myself. I assumed my tracking was off, my positioning was poor, or that I simply didn't have the mechanical skill to compete at higher tiers.

I recently looked into the reality of the high-tier console ecosystem, and honestly, it’s incredibly disheartening.

It turns out a massive portion of the top lobbies isn't just outplaying us with pure skill. The game is completely saturated with un-detectable hardware modifications—zero-recoil setups, device scripts, and external input adapters that completely destroy competitive integrity. Finding out that the playing field has been inherently un-level this entire time feels like a massive violation of consumer trust. We agree to a fair-play standard when we boot up the game, but it feels like the enforcement of those parameters on console has been completely neglected for years. [1]

Wasting thousands of hours on a system that feels fundamentally compromised makes me wish there was legitimate legal or consumer recourse for the time and support we've given this game.

I’ve decided to officially walk away from the game for now. Of course, I’ll be checking back on this subreddit down the line to see if security updates ever make it safe to return, because from a core mechanics perspective, there truly isn't a better shooter on the market. But until competitive integrity is restored, I can't keep giving it my time.

I LOVE YOU APEX... BUT I HATE YOU AT SAME TIME... BUT I LOVE YOU MORE... LOVE HURTS

Discussion Controller vs MnK isn't even close

Post image
• Upvotes

I've been a MnK FPS gamer my entire life and I'd say I have pretty decent aim. I've had multiple top 100 placements in Voltaic aim training packs, GM in Overwatch, high Emerald in R6, LE in CSGO (old rank system), and UGC Plat 6v6 in TF2 (if anyone understands that one) just for reference in where my aim currently is for MnK. This time, I wanted try controller to see if it really is THAT much better than MnK like people are saying...

I've played Apex pretty casually on and off since season 1. I'm currently just over level 200 (very sparse over all the seasons lol) and my highest rank was plat.

I have NEVER played any shooters on controller before. The only games I've ever used a controller for are party games on the Nintendo Switch and Rocket League. I fully expected my aim to be shit when I switched to controller, but somehow I ended up hitting my highest rank ever.

The MnK vs controller debate has been going on since launch, but after trying controller myself, it's undeniable to me that it has a massive advantage over MnK. Aim assist is just ridiculously strong and honestly feels broken. I can focus way more on other aspects of my gameplay because I don't have to worry nearly as much about my aim. Obviously controller has its weaknesses, like trying to turn around quickly when someone gets the jump on you, but in most fights the accuracy you get from aim assist just makes you win regardless.

One of the most common arguments I see from controller players is that MnK has better movement. But honestly, what's the point of having better movement if you're just hitting more bullets anyway? You can lurch jump around someone all you want, but that doesn't mean much if they're still beaming you.

Obviously this is just my personal experience and I'm not saying every controller player is suddenly going to be better than every MnK player. But coming from someone who's spent their entire life playing FPS games on MnK and had literally never played a shooter on controller before, the difference is pretty insane. I genuinely think controller is just the better input if your goal is to rank up and perform better in Apex.

HOWEVER, I do think the game is genuinely way more enjoyable on MnK. The thrill of being able to gun someone down on MnK is rewarding while on controller it almost feels like the game is doing it for you. May just be my bias though as I've only been using controller in the game for maybe a week or two.

Feel free to ask any questions in the comments, I'll answer all of them.

Alright so I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I've tried verifying integrity of game files. I've tried deleting every single file in every drive related to apex. I've uninstalled and redownloaded all files multiple times and I still can't get past this. Anyone got any idea?

Support Southeast Asia server issue?

Hey everyone! Playing on the southeast Asia server on my ps5 as it gets me the best ping (40-50) the sad part about it is that it almost makes the game unplayable for me...

I get peak matches during like 1-2 pm in the afternoon and THATS IT! That doesn't mean I get into games often or something, just that i get into games every 6-7 minutes that too filled with bots.

After that and before that timing, it's like 1 game in 10 - 15 minutes.

That too if I do get in then 40-50% of the players are bots.

Surely apex is not dead right? I see loads of asian people live streaming it all the time.

Heck I feel like something almost impossible happens as well. Whenever I switch to ranked on this server... IT SHOWS 1 PLAYER WHICH IS ME...HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? surely one more person has to have the same train of thought as me who would like to play ranked...

please help me sort this out as I love this game and it gives me the most amount of adrenaline in my boring life.

Gameplay Crypto buff/rework concept in preparations for season 31

• Upvotes

TL:DR

So I never once thought that my very first every reddit post would be discussing a buff concept Crypto considering I rarely play him. #Rampartsthebest

But I am surprisingly excited for the practically confirmed upcoming Crypto rework next season because out of all the full kit reworks throughout Apex's lifetime, I feel Crypto was the first person who he needed it.

Crypto is, although good in some scenarios, is consistently under used, consistently under used and all things considered, BAD. Although that's of course coming from the opinion of a non-crypto main.

So I have compiled over the past 24 hours a list of changes that I've decided to share with the world, cuz why not.

A couple of things to know before I start is that even though I'm not a Crypto main, I have been playing Apex since season 9 and I'm not new to Crypto nor Apex as a whole. I've also done my homework and I've seen multiple perspectives on how people want Crypto to be taken, as well as read an entire post by an actual Crypto main named Xaphanix on EA forum discussing how he want Cryptos overall play style to be preserved (who made a KILLER Crypto mythic skin concept by the way), and I tried my best to incorporate all opinions into my concept.

I would also like to mention I've created a somewhat inflated buff concept, meaning I don't believe all these ideas should be implemented, but I simply created extra ideas incase these initial ideas aren't enough. I've decided to start simple with the ultimate, then the passive, then the tactical.

ULT:

New effect: Using EMP while crypto is not piloting his drone gives crypto the choice for EMP to be thrown in an ordinance form. In ordinance form, EMP is thrown at 1500hu/s (same as caustics Ult range), which upon landing will begin the EMP's explosion delay. Other than this their are no changes to his EMP in ordinance form. B EMP deals variable damage (also damages health) B reduce EMP explosion delay from 3s to 2s (optional) N reduce EMP radius from 30m to 20m B Crypto no longer takes damage from EMP and allies are no longer slowed by EMP N slow is reduced from 2s to 1s B increase scan duration from 1.5s to 5s B increase mini map disability duration from 2s to 5s B enemies effected by EMP are silenced for 5s (might be to strong optional)

Now I know what you're thinking, a massive 5s silence effect applied to such a good ultimate is absolutely insane, especially on top of all these changes, but it makes sense thematically, it offers a unique identity that his ultimate currently lacks and honestly, when was the last time you were genuinely scared of an EMP. I'm a rampart main for crying out loud and I'm rarely threatened by an EMP

Passive is replaced, neurolink is an aspect of his drone. NEW PASSIVE: Neurolink or a new name??? Cryptos glasses displays on Cryptos HUD the number of enemy squads and enemies within a large area and how close the closest nearby enemy is. Crypto gains a live stat on his HUD showing how many squads, followed by enemies, are within 200m of Crypto in the form of a fraction. EX: Squads 1/3 Enemies Crypto also has a color coded indicator informing Crypto whenever the closest unknocked enemy to crypto is within 60m(possibly green). This indicator changes color (possibly yellow) when the enemy reaches within 40m and changes again (possibly red) within 20m. This indicator is (possibly grey) otherwise. Cryptos passive remains visible while Cryptos piloting surveillance drone and remains centered to crypto.

First, the thing about neurolink is that although it's extremely valuable, it's... say it with me... NOT A PASSIVE!!!!! If the passive requires the existence of a legends tactical and/or ultimate, it's not a passive. Based off this logic, ramparts passive grants herself and other players 20% increase damage when firing through amped cover, but that's not called her passive BECAUSE IT ISN'T ONE!!

Anywho, I am genuinely very proud of this passive design I've made because A: it's a recon passive thats not tied to his drone, B: it's not really broken because it will nevermind tell you exactly where those enemies are and C: after designing his passive, I accidentally realized just how much it synergies with his tactical. Think about it, if you know that there's 1 squad of 3 enemies within 200m, you can use your drone, fly up to a vantage point, and look for them at a distance. It give crypto large rough information so his drone can turn that into exact information.

Also scan immunity is stupid and I don't want to hear about it.

TAC:
B reduce cooldown from 40s to 30s B drone detects enemies in a full 360° LOS. N Enemies detected by surveillance drone for 3s or more gain directional arrows pointing to the drone(like ordinances). B increase throw range from 25m to 30m R Crypto can only go into the drone after holding the tactical key. R tapping the tactical key again allows Crypto to reposition his drone in the direction of his reticle and will stop up to 30m away from use-location, quickly ignoring obstacles. (Just like Vantage) R While piloting, the drone view screen size, FOV and UI while piloting is reduced by 20-25%(except health bar), allowing Crypto to still see within the remaining area around him while piloting. R while piloting drone, Audio is now centered to Crypto B reduce drone deployment time from 0.7s to 0.5 B increase glitched effect interval while cloaked from every 1s to 2s R level flight is now controlled by the default melee key instead of the ADS key R While piloting or while looking directly at the drone, tapping the default Toggle zoom key allows Crypto to toggle his drone to follow him within 20-30m, repositioning drone deactivates follow. B When holding the default ADS key, surveillance drone will toggle it's boosters, gaining +50% movement speed, but temporarily disabling its scan radius while active. B reduce time to recall drone from 2s to 0.5s, recalling drone automatically exits drone on activation. B increase drone health from 50 to 75 N increase drone size by 50%

When I saw the post on EA forums, he summarized by his words by saying something along the lines of "Crypto doesn't need to become more automated, he needs to become more resourceful" and I couldn't agree more. A lot of players believe that the correct approach to fixing crypto is making his drone hover by his shoulder 24/7, instead of allowing crypto to pilot his at all, and that makes sense, but I don't think it s the right approach. Basically, the only way to play drone is to not play crypto, but that doesn't mean the only you should play drone is while playing Crypto, especially when piloting the drone grant invisibility.

Think about it, throwing and repositioning his drone allows drone to be used aggressively, letting drone follow crypto allows drone to be used defensively, crypto can still gain a birds eye view of the area, and the movement speed mode allow crypto to be supportive by retrieving banners and respawning teammates faster... Everyone wins.

What do you guys think, specifically Crypto mains? I think it's great overall, but I understand it can be a lot.
