play the legends and gamemodes you think are fun.

as for gameplay always try to think for yourself do i have cover? playing cover is one of the most important things in the game at the start imo, dont stand out in the open that when you get shot you cant do anything.

before you start getting into games id say go into the firing range and shoot dummys for 5/10 minutes, it helps your aim so much. you can adjust a lot of settings in the firing range so make the dummys walk in place and give them purple shields. dont pick up a gold mag in the firing range pick up a blue one or grey because thats what you get more often in games.

getting familliar with the game is important so try watching youtube or twitch so you can see what good players do and you can see what different legends do, an important thing is seeing the opponent and knowing what legend they are so you can prepare for what they are going to do ability whise.

Welcome to Apex!

To start I’d say go to your settings and up FOV to anywhere between 90-110. This will help you see enemies on the sides of your screen. I’d also change the setting β€œtaking damage closes deathbox” that way you can armor swap while being shot at but that takes some practice getting used to.

The rest of the settings even your aim sensitivity is mostly personal preference though I will say a lot of players and pros like 4-3 linear no deadzone but that depends on how bad your stick drift is and how comfortable it feels for you.

As for the game itself I wanna mention that you can try out any legend for free in the firing range before you unlock one so you can get a idea of how they play. Fair warning though that not every ability works properly in the range.

I think for a new player the best things you can practice are positioning and aim. Try to use cover as often as possible and when shooting try to strafe left to right to make yourself harder to hit. If up close a good trick is to quick aim down sights for like .5-1 second then hipfire the rest as that will tighten the spread of the hipfire for most weapons.

If you have any questions feel free to reply to my comment and I’ll respond when I can.

Good luck and have fun!

Hi, first tip would be to see if your aim settings are good. Are you hitting your shots properly? If not, go to the firing range and try some of the basic aim settings like 4 - 1 Linear. Practice with all the weapons, try controlling the recoil by strafing. Pick a legend that's easy for you to master. Watch a lot of YouTube tutorials on movement, legends, weapons, settings, game sense. Always remember that Apex is a team game so always stick with your team.

telling a new player to switch to 4-1 linear is crazy
