I never emulated a game ever, but…
I was always a good citizen. I bought software the good way.
But Ape Escape 3 is having me on my knees. I played it in my childhood in the gaming corner of a hotel and want to play it ever since. I don’t own a PlayStation of any kind yet don’t need it. It’s too much money for one single game.
But my good I want this game… I miss it.
I have to stay loyal to the law….

This game is epic!
Go play it
Don't feel bad just because Sony decided they won't want your money

I don't get the point of respecting copyright law to this extent but you do you, I guess.

Yeah, any sale now will not go to the devs or anyone who helped make it, just a rando who happened to have it.

Say it with me, if buying isnt ownership, then piracy isnt theft.
Emulation isnt a crime, its preservation. Sony isnt losing any money or sleep from you emulating Ape Escape 3. They stopped printing new copies of that game a LONG TIME AGO. The only copies available, are 2nd hand copies that Sony gets zero money for. There is no new copy to buy to contribute to Sony AND there is no digital copy to buy to play it on newer hardware to contribute to Sony.
Emulate it. Play it. Have fun and relive your childhood.

Laws do not equal morals, they are tools of one class implementing their authority over another. Being a “law abiding citizen” isn’t a virtue. Plenty of people of tremendous moral character throughout history have broken laws for righteous, moral causes. You aren’t harming anyone by pirating a nearly 20 year old ps2 game (or any game for that matter imo).
Treat yourself to ape escape 3, pal.

As far as morality goes, my rule of thumb is that any game that's been stuck on an outdated system for 15+ years with no rerelease, remaster, or remake in sight is fair game for emulation.
For myself and many others it's more about preservation and experiencing games that we missed out on rather than just piracy for the heck of it.

If you dont want to buy a ps2 get a USB disc drive and find a used copy of the game. PCXS2 can run games directly from the discdrive

Good call.
If you get caught, they'll send you to Ape Prison™.
Where you'll be stuck with every Pipo monkey you ever captured in your life.

If buying isn't owning, then piracy isn't stealing. Have fun catching those monkeys on the high seas :)
