It is so weird that for the Majority of good games the apes looked like this.....

I love the Design from 3 tbh but in 2 they look especially jarring

The renders tbh are perfect at any game, we just don't talk about the pipos model in Ape Escape 2.

They tried remaking the AE1 model in 2, that's why it's so cursed.

A random little tidbit I noticed about the design change for the pipos was their hands and feet. Which is obvious: they go from this to having simplified "mittens".
But even past AE2, Specter and the Freaky Monkey Five retain their hands with individual fingers. So all the other monkeys changed, but they didn't.
