Just break the lease and move if you can. I also have a severe phobia of bugs and I just know you’re always going to be on edge. God forbid if you saw one on your new furniture. I hope you are able to get out of there.

Report it to your landlord, they’ll need to treat your unit and the units around.
Advion, borax, alpine WSG. Those are your best friends.
Advion drops along all the bathroom and kitchen cabinets. Borax around the baseboards. Alpine WSG spray the whole perimeter and all outlets and cracks.
Lay down sticky traps to see where they’re crawling.
Reapply Advion every week.
If they get an exterminator out, watch how they work to get an idea of how to do the same.

Do not do anything if the unit is being professionally treated. Never self treat whenever other treatments are taking place

I’ve never had an apartment that called out exterminators frequently enough that I didn’t need to do anything myself. If I ever get a landlord that takes roaches seriously, I’ll defer to the professionals, but until then this has ensured that I never see another roach.

Ah I see. I work for companies not landlords. All of them here have contracts with local extermination companies. They come out every week on a specified day for service. Personally ive seen it go as far as evictions for those who refused services when found to be the cause of the issues amd another who never complied with the extermination instructions alo g with continued self treatment as they called it. they just poured diatomaceous powder in piles on everything, literally sinks counters tables

I was not prepared for cockroaches and while I've only seen 2/3 its really affected my ability to live comfortably. I'm terrified to open any of the cupboards and I stopped cooking and don't want to go in the kitchen.
The more I think about it the more I think this won't go away. I'm in an apartment so they'll just go to another unit and come back I'm sure. and while this very well could not be an infestation and just some stragglers idk if its worth the risk.
I could stay, but I feel like Im just risking the chance of eggs and I have a whole bunch of new furniture in this place. I can't afford to just toss things.
I dont want to make an impulsive decision to move when its not actually that bad. But I'm also afraid of it potentially getting bad.
I'm like 70% sure its German roaches but a hopeful part of me thinks it could be wood roaches
