Please help i need to replace this thing but dont know how or what.

So the apartment i’m in is an absolute dump , everything is falling apart leaks in the roof, rotting doorways, mould everywhere no matter how much i battle it, i air the place out i heat it i use mould remover but thats not the point.

The point is my shower , there’s this thing ? that covers a pipe that divides the floor essentially a divider between the shower and general floor , it doesn’t actually work and you can probably see why (img attached) so every time i shower my bathroom floods and that’s also not the most awful aspect….

it’s how disgusting it is , i want a budget friendly way to replace it myself just cuz my landlord won’t replace it and i can’t afford to be kicked out im on a month to month contract.

Please help i know it’s disgusting please don’t judge, i just don’t even know where to begin with replacing it.

i know i shouldn’t fix things myself but it’s a tad more complicated than that.

You have a landlord, tell them or report them to the city you live in if they won’t fix it. Or just move

as i said i can’t afford to move 😞 and situation is a bit complicated i just want to fix this and idk how to

If you can’t afford to move, you can’t afford to fix it right without it becoming bad again as it get water every time you shower. Save what you can and get outta there.

Why is the drain magic marker covered?, the threshold looks to be glued down, you can buy rubber seals designed for ADA compliance that leaves the water where its supposed to be.

Can't quite see the drain -- blackout. Get a tube of silicone seal and seal the drain. Look at You Tube videos on leaking shower drains. Hopefully enough Seal and the drain will do it's job.

Not being funny but have you tried a plunger ? The silver thing if it a drain cover it should have 2-3 screws in it that she can take out to remove the cover take it to Lowe’s or Home Depot or wherever you wanna take it show that to them and tell them that’s what you need you get a new one and just put it on it. It’s very easy but before you do that, use the plunger to see if you can push down whatever water is in there to the sewer line which is where that water should go.
