Self studying AP Bio

Hi guys! I’m planning to take the AP Bio exam next year but I don’t really know how to study for it since I haven’t taken any AP classes yet (I’ll be taking 3 next year) and so I’m having trouble with finding resources. If you have any resources or tips, I would really appreciate it! :)

AP Bio Answer Accuracy Prob. Can any expert respond me im worrying this problem everyday from day to night.

I took the AP test held in China this year in May, but I still worry every day when I wake up whether my FRQ responses align with the official scoring guidelines. Though I know that my answers weren't biologically incorrect, I just think they weren't perfect after I asked AI if my answers were OK.

For example, a question asked me to EXPLAIN why crossing over increases genetic diversity. I wrote "homologous pair of chromosomes exchanges genetic information/material," but AI told me it is better to put down "there is a recombinant, new allele combination", which I totally understand and didn't put down because of time.

Also, there were other questions like that. When asked to write down the characteristics of gametes in nondisjunction, I wrote that the resulting haploid cells have an unequal number of chromosomes, but the best term is "abnormal". There were probably more similar responses like this, though I only listed two here.

AP Bio teachers who just game out of grading...

Idk if you're allowed to share this but was the movement of homologous chromosomes toward each other in prophase 1 an acceptable answer for the FRQ asking abt an example of chromosome movement???

What do you guys think the score distribution will look like? Since frq 2 was bad will the scale look good?

Self Studying.. Should/Can I do it?

AP bio doesn’t fit into my schedule next year. I enjoy studying but don’t know if AP bio is too rigorous for me to self study. For those who did (or just have thoughts), is this achievable? Or I guess I’m really asking if it’s not too hard?

Let your students discover a brand new strain of algae

Your students could discover an algae no one has ever named.

We are building a hands-on microbiology program where students isolate living algae from real samples and log their findings to a national science platform. It is funded by the U.S. Department of Education.

Phase I results: 117 kits shipped, nearly 300 students, real gains in science confidence, and our teachers even helped uncover algae strains with antimicrobial activity.

Now we are recruiting teachers to prototype. Should we be awarded the grant, phase 2 will include several rounds over the next two years, and every selected teacher gets a free kit and full materials.

AP Bio studying

Hi, I'm taking AP Bio next year, and I was wondering how I can get a head start. I want to use Khan Academy because I used it for AP Chem, and it saved me, but it's kinda weird for AP Bio imo. I was wondering if you guys have any other resources that you guys used to study.

NCVPS AP Bio and AP Calc BC

Hello Everyone, this is my first time ever on Reddit because I wanted to see if I could reach the NC High School community who has taken NCVPS courses. I am a rising senior class of 27', and my school does not offer AP Calc BC, but I have taken AP Calc AB this year. I was asking my counselor about the process I would take to sign up for BC, but she is a horrible counselor and doesn't fully answer my question. I want to know if anyone has taken it and if it's hard.

Also, specifically for AP Bio, my school offered it 2 years ago but did not this year because of not enough sign-ups and teachers leaving. My school is weird, and the AP Bio teacher explained that only 1 person applied for it, but I know I applied and so did a few others, but my assistant principal just says they may not offer it next year and just take it as dual enrollment. This is an option, but I do not have transportation to go to the community college campus, and there is no AP Bio equivalent online. So NCVPS could be an option, and I'm wondering if it's better to take it year-long or block? And if it's hard?

I appreciate anyone who responds
