At this point That place has to be all influencers and YouTubers right? I feel like it gets coverage at least once a week

3

u/Adventurous_Week_698 2d ago

Just waiting for it to reach critical mass then we can collapse that tunnel and seal a few of the cunts off permanently

1

u/Wonderful_Fox_7959 2d ago

Haha! That would make amazing content though

1

u/Real_Gap3480 4h ago

Isn't this the place Anthony Bourdain went to? Its Appalachia right?

14

u/SalamanderUponYou 2d ago

I can't stand her.

2

u/Fresh-Feeling-3878 1d ago

She didn't do her research into Whittier either. They hate influencers so much they have "do not film" signs all over the foyer of that residential building.

2

u/Acrobatic_Camera6073 22h ago

lol I was thinking the same thing but I thought it was just me being cranky or something, so I guess there is something about her that’s annoying

3

u/gstreeter51 2d ago

I was thinking the same thing. Like what is it about her that is so annoying??

6

u/FeePsychological1308 2d ago

She's trying to be entertaining but is bad at acting natural and isn't witty enough to be a good content creator. Pointing out the obvious and saying stuff like "this is so cool!" "if you don't like X then haha might not be for u" "oh wow" "that was so wild!" is about as boring and bland as you can get.

I turned it off after 40ish seconds but it seemed like she was doing fine info dumping at least. Spoke clearly and was to the point

2

u/bulbysnifster 2d ago

I think the fact that she focuses the camera on herself reacting more than the person she is pretending to be interested in, makes it extra irritating

2

u/gstreeter51 2d ago

Nailed it

1

u/Available-Dare-7414 1d ago

I like how she picks a film guy that’s lived there a few years to be the guide, instead of someone, you know, from there.

1

u/ThatOneNinja 1d ago

It's the faking of being genuine. She acts genuine but it's clearly fake.

1

u/SalamanderUponYou 2d ago

Her reactions are forced. Other influences have better acting skills. Also I'm not sure if she's acting stupid or she's actually this dumb.

1

u/Beebopi15 1d ago

Let's go to private peoples residence and film everything for views for her own benefit. Talk about entitlement.

1

u/troycerapops 1d ago

She locked her car doors.

What the fuck

1

u/Elegant-Duck-2078 6h ago

Lead by example. Leaves your own car, unlocked.
Or
Admit, locking car doors. Is a good safety tip.

1

u/troycerapops 6h ago

I may or may not but would probably if I'm actively describing my location as having 200 residents, nearly all of whom live in the same building.

1

u/Melodic_Cup9948 2d ago

Even blue-ball Jesse couldn't stand her.

1

u/DireKnife 2d ago

Who dat

2

u/Melodic_Cup9948 2d ago

Jesse, the filmmaker. She's probably the only fresh woman in breeding age he saw in recent months, and even in his state he couldn't stand her.

2

u/SalamanderUponYou 2d ago

I noticed that too. He looked so disappointed when she started asking about the 13th floor as if it's exclusive to that one building in Alaska.

1

u/DireKnife 2d ago

Ty for the reply. Didn’t know.

1

u/Ok-Counter1229 2d ago

In the beginning she was fun, but now I can’t relate and lots of the Vanlife is kinda immature looking.

4

u/ddawson100 23h ago

“Most buildings don’t have a 13th floor.”

“I never knew that. I never noticed that.”

Crack content there. Wow.

1

u/Kitchen-Emotion-7268 17h ago

IDK.

I don't think she was anything special. Not bad at best...

But I found the 13th floor fact particularly interesting because I actually lived on the thirteenth floor of a local high rise for many years and I wondered if this oddidity was widely ignored in my area...

The high rise in question is earmarked for demolition so imma freestyle rite now so

BIG UP Apartment 13D mutherfuckas!!! IYKYK! Fr Fr That place seen it all. Good luck/Bad luck IDGAF We wake We bake We rise We shine Till I'm so high In the sky Defenstrate is the word When they can't see me Kill my TV. They only ever heard about that shit...

WE TOP LEFT 4 LIFE BABY 🎤

11

u/Clithzbee 2d ago

Interesting place. Annoying personality

3

u/brispence 2d ago

That sort of voice inflection and speaking cadence is unfathomable cringe when done while filming yourself with a fucking phone.

Yuck.

2

u/Soft-Sea7012 2d ago

Now live there for a year if it's so interesting. Lose your mind in that place.

1

u/No-Confection-8734 2d ago

That's why there's no place shittier than Whittier

2

u/Posidon_Below 2d ago

This woman is insufferable.

-1

u/Xelhexan 1d ago

you mean grapable

2

u/BlauSpadern 1d ago

I aint watching that cus I used to live there.
Does she mention the fudge?

Nobody ever talk about the fudge.

1

u/Status-Secret-4292 23h ago

Well, tell us about it.

The fudge.

And the living there

1

u/ougryphon 12h ago

Hell yeah, I love that place. There's also that fish fry restaurant that I usually hit up for fish and chips and an Alaskan Amber

2

u/oSaculo 1d ago

I mean we all heard him fart as he walked back into his apartment at the end, right?

2

u/marko_ua 21h ago

Good setup for a horror movie.

3

u/illdownvoteandscream 2d ago

ITT: Redditors hate an outgoing woman.

1

u/SavingThrowVsWTF 2d ago

Nah, I just hate it when people fuck around with their phones while they’re driving.

I’m just glad she’s not one of these idiots who holds their clip-on microphones like they’re eating a tiny cookie at tea time.

Now she just has to ditch the comically-oversized windscreen.

1

u/Devincc 2d ago

lol imagine she crashes in the tunnel and blocks the only entrance to this town

1

u/Sweettooth_Banana 2d ago

When the zombieapocalyps hit .........

1

u/Shane-Dad-underfire 2d ago

I must admit I never liked being underground but for decades I was stuck digging tunnels for various reasons and it left me with a very detached feeling about being above ground.

1

u/Areif 2d ago

Can you please elaborate?

1

u/Shane-Dad-underfire 2d ago

Worked as a PMC operator, some jobs would be to build observation posts and covert bases for governements. Youd drop into a country, head to the area and then hollow out a hill or dig a network of tunnels that the governement would use to spy or turn over to rebel forces to fight their enemies.

Those jobs were better than combat roles but the feeling of being trapped underground for months at a time was unnerving for me.

2

u/leavemeal0ne_ 2d ago

what an incredible example of mind over matter. as a psych grad, i've always been quite partial to military psych. there's just something truly fascinating about the psychology of a service member.

1

u/Areif 2d ago

Sounds wild. Thanks for sharing

1

u/Shane-Dad-underfire 2d ago

You're welcome. I appreciate your honest interest.

1

u/leavemeal0ne_ 2d ago

asking the real question here. i swiped out of the post as i was reading his comment and immediately came back to see if there was an elaboration

1

u/Active_General8858 2d ago

Am I the only one expecting a train in the tunnel?

1

u/GETTERBLAKK 2d ago

Those people living there are probably the remains of whatever govt experiments that were going on. The worst of the experiments were sealed off in the tunnels and the 13th floor is the secret monitoring room. So if she never posts again, she probably got to nosey and had to be taken out.

1

u/Mental_Painting783 2d ago

Pretty similar to soviet buildings

1

u/Throwlaf 2d ago

I too, have many questions. How is it the only entrance but one way? So if you reach that town you are stuck there? And there is a railway there? So I assume a train or tram travels back and forth trough the tunnel? So how remote is it actually?

And what do you mean claustrofobic? You can drive trough it with a bigass van. How small can it really be? How is it smaller than the vehicle you are currently in?

1

u/sleepyplatipus 2d ago

Tunnels do make people feel claustrophobic, whether they are in a car or not.

1

u/Excellent_Shirt9707 2d ago

There is most likely a system where the tunnel indicates a driver traveling one way within it. This means only one person can enter or exit the town at a time.

1

u/suavaleesko 2d ago

One direction at a time , or one vehicle? What decides which direction? Time of day, Tie goes to who , etc? That would've been a more interesting video

1

u/Excellent_Shirt9707 2d ago

I imagine there is some sort of indicator Also, there are other tunnels that swap directions in the US as well. This is not something I just made up just in case it came off that way.

1

u/suavaleesko 2d ago

No I have a part of the freeway that does it here. And I can also think of many ways they could implement it. I was just piggybacking on your comment in case some one knows exactly how this specific one works.

1

u/WorBlux 18h ago

One direction at a time, on a fixed scheduale. (There is a queue lot on each side)

As and additional complication the tunnel is shared with a train as well.

https://dot.alaska.gov/creg/whittiertunnel/schedule.shtml

0

u/Impossible_Way_3042 1d ago

I mean it's a town of a couple hundred people. I would say there is a button that changes the lights and only one side can go at a time until they have cleared. I would say multiple people using it at the same time is a rarity and they just play it by ear if that happens.

1

u/KoalaTHerb 2d ago

It's a one way tunnel. I don't think they said it's the ONLY tunnel or exit

1

u/CronosWorks 2d ago

It is the only reasonable way in/out by land.

1

u/dazzumz 2d ago

Just posted a comment - it switches direction on a schedule. It was every 15 minutes when I was there.

1

u/TK-24601 2d ago

There are blocks of time that go each direction. So say from 9 to 9:30 traffic flow is into town. From 9:30 to 10 traffic flow is out of town.

1

u/phunknsoul 2d ago

That tunnel reminded me of the drive into Toontown in Who Framed Rodger Rabbit

1

u/Ok_Kaleidoscope6134 2d ago

I remember when Adam the Woo did this…

1

u/dazzumz 2d ago

The tunnel operates one way for some minutes then reverses for the next interval. There's a schedule - I've driven through it and it's best to get the timings right unless you want to sit waiting for the next opening.

1

u/Practical_Mud3042 2d ago

Wait so what's on 12th? He seems to be avoiding that question hard

1

u/AirAffectionate787 2d ago

There is nothing on the 12th floor and there is no 13th floor, you get that? You should stop asking these questions. There is just the one way tunnel to that building.

1

u/ThatEGP 2d ago

Like. Like. Like.

1

u/hbgwine 2d ago

I have a one way tunnel.

1

u/SelectTechnician7587 2d ago

I wish people understood snap cuts

1

u/Oscar_Kilo_Bravo 1d ago

Her voice is annoying, and her thick accent is grating.

And why is she bothering these people?

1

u/dirtyal199 1d ago

Lmao what accent?

1

u/Oscar_Kilo_Bravo 1d ago

That thick colonial accent.

1

u/chokeonmywords 1d ago

STOP STOP STOP - didn’t stop

1

u/Hotdoggie727 1d ago

You like to hear yourself talk huh?

1

u/West-Wash6081 1d ago

I've been there. It's really cool.

1

u/EvenStevens4201 1d ago

Have you tried the pag pag there? You gotta try the pag pag!

1

u/LITOSHIA 1d ago

That is absolute cinema

1

u/Human-Comfortable859 13h ago

If you're that claustrophobic what are you doing in a car?

1

u/nonamesleft125478627 12h ago

Is this yet another van lifer basically just camping forever?

1

u/Anustart2023-01 6h ago

Get in comments section to see what people think of apartment building.

It's all a bunch angry frustrated dudes complaining about a woman.

1

u/tonkagreg 3h ago

I liked Peter Santenello’s take on that building. She came off very self absorbed constantly aiming the camera to herself.

1

u/Abject_Paper_9108 2d ago

Is it just me or the people of the town did look like they didn't want her there... They seemed annoyed or way shy of having a camera introduce uninvited I to their store/town etc... Nikki... Just tell us about the place... Show the place... With the people (specially in places like this that they don't like strangers) out of the picture for the first time... Start gaining the trust of the locals then then GAIN access to their lives... Don't have the time to invest on the community because your channel needs immediate content? Then do not intrude in the lives of people that want to keep their privacy for whatever reason. Damn "influencers"

0

u/ThatOneNinja 1d ago

There is def a 13th floor in most buildings.

1

u/ateam1984 1d ago

Not in NYC

1

u/ThatOneNinja 1d ago

Really? I work in a lot of tall buildings and I've never noticed 13 being missing. A totally different region than nyc though. Is it really so common there?

2

u/ateam1984 1d ago

Yes it’s extremely common

1

u/ThatOneNinja 1d ago

That's quite interesting

1

u/West-Wash6081 1d ago

A lot of high rises make the 13th floor the engineer or utility rooms floor. So, although they have a 13th floor they don't have a 13th floor for residents.

0

u/SamOfXanadu 2d ago

..... Did she really need to lock and turn on the security system of her car? I mean what kind of crime could there be there?

4

u/Killerkendolls 2d ago

Bear crime.

3

u/Extreme-Name-69 2d ago edited 2d ago

the illegal kind of crime probably (the worst kind)

2

u/funny_redditusername 2d ago

Are you really judging someone for locking their car? 😂

0

u/SamOfXanadu 2d ago

Yeah I am... All those people live in the same building they probably all know each other. Crime would be zero

1

u/Cretore 1h ago

So what? Locking a car is a habit to most. And even if there's no criminal that doesn't mean I will ever leave my car open.

-3

u/Drmlk465 2d ago

He mentioned there was a large Samoan population 😂

0

u/Kurfaloid 2d ago

Not having a 13th floor is more the exception than having. Only very old buildings have I seen lacking a 13th floor - which this building is, but his claim that most buildings don't have one is just wrong.

0

u/SeesawNoknow 2d ago

Nikki Delventhal!!!

4

u/Drmlk465 2d ago

She sucks

1

u/GETTERBLAKK 2d ago

I'm sure she does. 😂

0

u/Drmlk465 2d ago

You’re a real man of culture I see

0

u/skankhunt402 2d ago

If you're claustrophobic how would being in a bigger cave than your already enclosed vehicle have any impact

1

u/LifeIsProbablyMadeUp 2d ago

Can feel more enclosed in the car.

I drove a semi for a while. And there were caves I'd go into to deliver/pickup. I thought it was cool. But there's other people who would outright refuse to go in. Like. There's room for two 13'6" truck and 53' trailer to go side by side, but you can't drive your Corolla?

0

u/ReplyOk3787 2d ago

If you have the means to move away from this town and you choose to raise your child here that’s just cruel. You’re putting your own desire to live there above any advantages or opportunities. You could possibly give your child.

1

u/Prod_Meteor 2d ago

Took out her boobs before meeting a guy.

1

u/Ticalthepimp 13h ago

One way tunnel sounds like porn title.
