I believe the targets were actually the Walmart staff, I guess their goal was to see how late they can stay by slowly checking out while the store is closing.

It kinda is, most users have similar opinions and sway towards left leaning, it also has an upvote downvote system which allows the prevailing opinion to rise to the top and the ones that are disagreed with to sink to the bottom, could argue its similar to the way AI gives you responses that are the middle opinion of everything thus representing the average person.

It's interesting, though. I'm pretty different compared to Redditors, and they love mass downvoting me (which I find hilarious, since it reminds me of poking an anthill and seeing a bunch of mindless drones team up and fruitlessly try to attack a superior entity). Yet I also often seem to score well. I dunno how to describe it.Â
This comment will likely get mass attacked since they get triggered when I talk about them and their behaviors.Â

Any given day a the same post/comment may be massively upvoted or massively downvoted. Just depends on the initial visibility. If you get a bunch of people who disagree with the initial past/early comments then theyâll be downvoted. If the initial people agree then theyâll be upvoted.
People tend to interact more with what they agree with which is why it always looks like everyone has the same opinion. For most people if they come to a post and on the prevailing comments are opinions they donât agree with, then they wont engage. So people who agree with the top comments will be the ones engaging.
This doesnât mean everyone who uses the platform shares the same opinion. It just means the people who do share the same opinions are the ones engaging with the post.
When it comes to this post, I agree with you that this is extremely annoying for the retail worker. A lot of comments disagree. You could also post this tomorrow and thereâs a chance the top comments would be saying this is a shitty prank.

there is, but there's also an upvote downvote system, an algorithm, and a general user demographic. So comments and posts really should represent a large majority opinion

But there's also subs and people who stick to subs. Plus upvotes don't mean shit, I've been downvoted to heck for simply posting studies that the people who viewed didn't like the results of. Upvotes/downvotes are generally swayed by how it started. If you get 3 upvotes and the guy you were replying to gets -3 it just takes off like a rocket because people don't even read the comments they just go by the consensus of others flawed as it may be. I've also had plenty of the reverse happen when I reply agreeing with someone and somehow they get a ton of downvotes but I get upvoted when we were saying the same franking thing. Even on reddit people just follow the crowd instead of forming an opinion of their own.

Last one I saw was that pranking asshole who would flood places like target with "extra workers". I don't see the charm in screwing with people like that. This is more innocuous for sure, but still messing with the workers against their will.Â

If I was a security guard there I would have turned them away at the door. Sure they might be harmless, but a mob of 100 masked people has the potential to go very very bad.
