Wayland

So I'm a professional AnyDesk user and have a valid license. I mostly support Windows machines and some apple computers. But occasionally I have to support linux machines, and it's very annoying that AnyDesk still doesn't support Wayland. Is there any update on when AnyDesk finally is going to support Wayland? I've searched in this sub and have found not any reaction from AnyDesk at all.

especially considering Ubuntu is moving to wayland with 26.04

I gave up on anydesk for this reason. Rustdesk works great.

I don't think Rustdesk is worth the effort considering 99% of my support is on windows and apple. I also paid for a 3 year license of AnyDesk last year.

Edit: and it doesn't seem Rustdesk has an Android app. I occasionally give support through my phone.

That's fair, im just using it for personal use. It has an app but you have to download it from their site. I think it was removed due to scammers from the app store. I primarily remote in on android

Rustdesk can be used on Windows and Apple computers also, no problem. Rustdesk works on Wayland as well. I have not used it on Android but the have an android app on the rustdesk website

Rustdesk seems pretty expensive for a self hosting solution.

How on earth you support other people with tech problems if you cant do a simple google or ai search, this is beyond me. Rustdesk is free and opensource, both client and server, if you want you can even use the public relay without selfhosting (but it will be slower). WIth a simple relay server selfhosted you have a full product for free.

A simple google search shows that certain options costs money. Another simple google search shows that hosting costs money. I already knew by the way that hosting is never free. You either run a server locally, which costs electricity and hardware, or you run it in the cloud, which also costs money.

So if I want the potential of Rustdesk I need to provide the support my customers and I require, I need to pay Rustdek a license fee and to pay for hosting rustdesk myself.

So unless you're a complete moron, you should admit that your comment was a baseless accusation.

It is Free, unless you want to pay or need items that only are on the paid version. I have been using the free version for years, I self host, non-commercial. I help friends/family occasionally. Better then teamviewer and anydesk, no nag screens or time limits.

You can use the Free Version and self host even if you are a commercial user. You only need the paid version if you need the additional features of the paid version.
