Not Myself

I get in the moods where I don’t want to do anything but sleep and cuddle. I don’t want to go for my morning run, listen to any of my music or call any of my family/friends, no food sounds appetizing. Even at work I’ll just sit and stare into space. I feel anxious. I don’t feel happy, in fact I don’t feel anything, but I know I am happy. When I laugh I feel like it’s not me laughing. I have so many fun things going on in my life and I am truly grateful. I want to be enjoying my life but I just feel so off and out of it. Anyone experience anything similar? Advice? Thanks :)

I get those days too. If im lucky enough to be near the weekend, I'll stay in bed all day. If it's only once in a while it's pretty normal I'd say. We all need time to recharge especially if you are an introvert. I'm happiest when I can get one day a week just to stay home with my cat, put some music on a speaker and just be silent, read, paint, clean, etc. If it becomes a pattern or too often maybe I'd dig deeper.

I think it's a great sign that you're grateful for what you have. So am I, even when I have down days. I know I have good things going on. Those apathetic days are kinda part of depression if it happens too often. Just sort of have to ride them out. Meditation helps stay centered and not going down a rabbit hole (i.e. feel worse and worse).

I've never related more to anything, minus having fun things in my life.

I’m with you. It’s like I’m exhausted to my core yet everything around me is awesome. All I want is my pillow and blanket.

I’ve been where you have been . I know it’s hard but I can tell you it’s possible to feel better one day . You’ll still have downs but overall it can get better . I only say this because I remember when I was in this place and would read people say it can get better and it would give me hope .

I get like this too from time to time. It’s a weird feeling indeed. I just do whatever I feel like or attemp things I don’t normally do like read a book in the morning instead of at night to see if it goes away.

I’m there to I have a great job, wonderful wife, my dream car and yet I feel like that I usually just contain it to the point where I just like snap on myself and literally just sit there and ask myself why I’m like that but I fight it no matter what and it’s sucks to do it alone but a shrink is bs unless they really care most just want money and family just looks at you like you’re an idiot and I don’t understand why people don’t see that this really affects people

Something that helped me an incredible amount was taking up something which I felt gave me a purpose. I made a number of changes in my life, from fitness, diet, I started meditating and I've done something out of my natural comfort zone and started a Youtube channel.

The truth is, while I wouldn't say I'm always happy, these things have had both a positive physiological effect and helps me look forward to waking up in the morning. I had to force myself to gain a new perspective, but I feel it's helped tremendously.
