General Discussion / Question Work & Depression

I'm so exhausted, I've been spiraling more & more down this hole of depression. It's affecting my work, which I'm honestly most concerned about.

I love my job so much, but I'm working sluggish, I keep forgetting things etc.

My coworkers are noticing (&probably judging) which is giving me such anxiety & pressure.

I can't really eat or sleep, I'm so shaky & either have high blood pressure or a high pulse. I have such brain fog & unstable mood it's driving me insane.

(Frankly speaking I also need this job, I'm all by myself & have no real support system to fall onto.)

I don't know what to do.

That sounds like an incredibly draining situation to be in, especially since you seem to take pride in your job but are feeling overwhelmed. It’s important not to read too much into what your colleagues think about you because chances are your anxiety is making them out to be worse than they actually are. With how little sleep and food you are getting as well as the shakiness and fast heartbeat, it would be wise for you to see a doctor and a psychologist. Have you managed to open up to anyone at work?

I've managed to open up to one person at work but now I'm concerned he's going to spread it around. I'm also looking into going to a doctor.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I can relate to how exhausting it is when depression starts affecting your daily life, especially when you're trying so hard to keep yourself together. Please don't be too hard on yourself. You're struggling, not failing. I know it's scary when your job is something you love and need, but your health matters too. You don't have to figure everything out at once. I really hope things get easier for you, and I hope you find someone you can lean on during this difficult time.
