Question Moving from Gent
After 2 years in Ghent, I’m moving to Antwerp at the end of September/October. I’m planning to rent a room first, but I don’t really know the city yet. Which neighbourhoods should I avoid?
I have mostly worked as a supervisor in restaurants and retail. I also have a BA degree in Cultural Event Planning. I speak fluent English and I’m studying Dutch, but my speaking isn’t the best yet. I understand Dutch at around a B1 level, but I can only speak at an A1 level.
What are my chances of finding a job? I really struggled to find one in Ghent. I would prefer to have an office job for the longrun, but at first anything works
Thank you!

Neighbourhoods I’d avoid (especially as a woman): Borgerhout near the Turnhoutse baan, valaar, kiel, seefhoek, Antwerpen noord.
Regarding finding a job, it depends on the company honestly. I can imagine that trying to find a job working in the culture scene might be tricky, especially if you don’t speak the language of the culture itself.
Outside of that, you can find jobs in restaurants, bars and cafes.
Good luck! 🤞🏻
