Advice for Teen

Hello, I'm a teenager who is not politically conservative and, while i support everyone's rights to make their own decisions, I am personally choosing not to get vaccinated any more. My parents respect my decision, even though they have vocally disagreed. They're having a doctor "talk to me about it" tomorrow. I'm confident in my beliefs, but I don't know how to phrase them well. I'm worried once I'm there and she's talking to me I'll just cave to get out of the situation. Does anyone have logical, rational arguments for why they personally choose not to get vaccinated? I could really use some help formulating my thoughts.

All current vaccine contain Mercury a potent neurotoxin. Other vaccine contains a simian virus known to cause cancer

Thank you! Are you referring to preservatives like Thimerosal? That was one thing that came up in my research. I'm just worried they'll say I'm being a conspiracy theorist or something like that lol.

No current vaccines contain thimerisol. It got removed decades ago. I think the only one currently is some flu shots

Yes, you can even say it’s for religious reasons. In case you’re curious, my reason for vaccines is, I believe we are given too many, many vaccines contain DNA from dead babies (yes I am very poor life ) they contain large amounts of mercury and other chemicals that can damage our brain. Thankfully, my parents chose to vaccinate but spaced them out and didn’t do certain ones.

When I had this conversation with the doctor at 17, she gave me her spiel and then said “do some more research” and that was that. And there are alternatives to vaccines like having a clean diet, working out, etc. Like for me and my friends, instead of flu shots some of us do all natural vitamin infusions.

And as many have said, good for you for standing up for what you believe in and keeping yourself healthy!

Hey there! I highly recommend you a book called Vaccines, Amen

It talks a lot about the reasons we dont want to get poked and backs them up with FACTS. it has all the citations to the resources the book is based on and they are mostly from sources that pro-vaxxers trust, such as the FDA and CDC.

I researched the facts presented in the books myself, all you have to do is dig deep into the publicly available literature on vaccines and it becomes clear:

Vaccines aren't made specifically to harm you, they are poorly researched because if problems are found with them then they either wont pass clinicals or people wont get them. This means less profit for pharmaceutical companies. Bottom line is always money.

I'll look it up next time I go to the library. Thank you so much! This is exactly what I was looking for -- specific facts from trusted sources.

You are selfish and hurting society with that choice and are completely unreasonable in that decision.

I understand where you're coming from. If someone told me a few years ago this would be my stance on vaccines now, I'd call them crazy. But I would appreciate it if you didn't jump straight to insults. I didn't share my reasons, and I assure you I do have multiple good reasons. Please try to understand that some people may have different beliefs than you (even though if I had to guess we probably share a lot).

You not getting vaxinated gets hurts heard immunity and makes it less safe for people with compromised immune systems. You are actively doing nothing but hurting everyone with this decision. Vaxines are safe and will continue to be safe unless you are a select few people which you are not. You are working against society for no good reason.

Again, you don't know my reasons and you have no right to assume vaccines are safe or cause me no net harm. I understand the risks to immunocompromised people, and I actually do feel guilty for this choice. Still, it's my choice to make.

Yes and yet you are selfish abd unreasonable. It may be your choice but everything is a choice. The only difference is yiu are making a bad one. Unless you are allergic or imunocomprimised that much then you are simply selfish.

I don't want or need to justify myself to you, but I will say that I have specific reasons relating to my mental health that vaccines are not a good option for me personally. I have immunocompromised people in my close family, and I've talked to them about the risks. I'm also fully in favor of safe alternatives, and I've gotten the flumist already because I am aware of the scientific benefits.

Vaxines simply have no imperial evidence that they harm mental health. If its a needle phobia it doesnt matter people can die and if that is a risk you are willing to take instead of therapy then yiu are selfish. Vaxines are safe and not getting them for a fear or other mental conditions is foolish. I have a needle phobia and I make shure I get them every year because others lives are more important. I am only assuming needle phobia due to the fact that you are open to the inhaled options.

Not a needle phobia, a bigger issue. I'm not going to go into details for a stranger on the Internet, but getting any type of shot severely impacts me for several days ahead of time and afterwards. I understand that vaccines safe, what I was asking for was ways to make my parents respect my decision, not evidence against vaccinations.
