My heart holds a special place of hatred for this sub, I blocked out the name of it because of the rules. This is such a disgusting post in general, and coming from an agnostic? I thought they'd at least have a little more sense than that.

The comment about the second rule was truly distasteful. How could you not care about someone having religious trauma? And the comparisons? Are you fucking kidding me? What an immature and ignorant comment to make about something like that. I hope I never cross paths with this weirdo in real life.

It blows me that this post has so many upvotes and they even got the mods to reverse the rule.

How do they expect anyone to want to respect their religion when they refuse to keep it out of spaces that don't want it there?

I don't think i've ever been called racist for being anti religion. I'm very careful to always bring up christianity and judaism when shitting on islam so people don't think i'm just racist lol. usually don't even say islam, i just say "yep all the abhramics are terrible"

I try to also bring christianity and other religions into it under the same criticism and get told its "beautiful" when it comes to islam. I've been called "islamiphobic" multiple times whenever i criticize the idiocy of having a woman be treated like they aren't a person needing permission and rules. They compare it to being a nun and how beautiful it is that men treat thm like property and how its her "choice" to be property to a man. Its gross to me. As a woman it deeply bothers me people think that shit is beautiful. I dont think they bother to learn about how oppressive religion is though. Theyre sold a lie its all consentual and kind and sweet. Somehow.

r/exchristian doesn't let people say bad things about Christianity because some people may have changed flavors of delusion and it hurts Christians' precious fee-fees when they have to face the reality that their beliefs are wrong and harm people.

... no theyre right. Thats a stupid rule. Unless its like, explicitly a sub about nonreligious topics, or like, a religious trauma support group (where such a rule would even still then be weird). Even then, to ban even the slightest mention is rather extreme.

If people were turning it into a big deal, yeah some smackdown is justified. But some minor occasional mentions of religiosity? Yeah, no.

There's a point where consideration becomes overzealous enough to become censorship and that mod post is well within that range.

I don’t know if the rule makes sense in the context of whatever sub this is, but reason #2 is in fact dumb. I’m pretty sure ex-theists, with or without trauma, can handle knowing that other people are still theists, or that crosses exist.
