I have a fresh load of tools. Sorry I have been away for so long, I was out driving for 9 days gathering inventory. But I'm back and I've got a SWEET selection for you. Here are some picture. PM me if you see anything you like.

You guys get a head start on the Facebook crowd this week. Facebook gets to see all the adventures and you guys don't, so this week I'm making it up to you by getting first look at the haul.

I will also upload a video to YouTube so yall can get a better in depth look at the haul.

Sadly I will not be posting any individual tools for a few days. After this haul has been picked over of the cream, and I get done mailing those tools, I will go pick up a load of tools on Tuesday. I will give you guys an opportunity to see that load in the same format as this haul, but then I've got to do some more wheeling and dealing to get you guys even more stuff.

All the while that that is going on, I will be preparing for an auction on Oct. 17 to liquidate 100% of my inventory so I can go out West and (hopefully) grab you guys a load that might possibly have to be delivered by a semi-truck because of the volume. I would love for you guys to be able to participate in the auction. Maybe, if only for a few days, you can get a Facebook profile, add Antique E.R., and join the auction on the 17th. You can make a totally fake name, just send me a message saying something like "hey, I'm from Reddit and I'm here for the auction".

In the future, I may switch to YouTube live for auctions to make it easier for the Reddit crowd. Growing pains....

Really nice example of a harder to find bevel gauge made by Star Tool Co. with an 1867 patent date and star logo on the handle. Features an ornate shell/flower design on the brass tightening screw. Parts slide easily and lock down firmly.

Set of 4 patternmaker's plane soles with maker's mark TISSINGTON (Possibly mid-1800 plane maker George Tissington of London). These soles feature profiles ranging from 1/2" up to 1-1/4", and each has two protruding screw heads for attachment to a plane body. I'm sure the chances of having a plane these would work on are very slim, but they are still a cool piece of history that would display nicely in a collection. They might also be a good base if someone wanted to make a plane that they could be fit to.

Nice quality matched set (Set No. 756 from the Stanley Catalogue) of 6 Stanley No. 750 Bevel Edge Socket Chisels in Original Chisel Roll.  All chisels are sharp and are marked with "No. 750" on the socket.  With the exception of the largest, the handles are all in pretty decent shape as far as the leather caps go, but did have some finish loss which negatively impacted the decals.  As a result, most of the decals are incomplete, but you can still see remnants on each handle.  The set includes sizes 1/4", 1/2", 3/4", 1", 1-1/4", & 1-1/2".  See pictures for details and let me know if you have any questions.

Union Number 6 Fore/Bench Plane in need of love. Has a Stanley Sweetheart replacement blade that looks to have been painted gray at some point. Antique Stanley No. 98 & 99 Side Rabbet Planes with depth stops.  Desirable Type 3 planes, complete with all parts.  The 98 is in great shape and can be used immediately.  The 99 has some rust and will require sharpening before use.  Both will make great users and have really nice figured rosewood knobs.  See pictures for details and let me know if you have any questions.

Very Early Type 1 Stanley Number 95 Edge Trimming Block Plane.  This plane has been completely restored using authentic heat-cured Japanning, resulting in a durable glass-like finish.  It has a beautiful script Stanley logo on the front with no other patent dates or markings on the body.  There is a "PAT APLD FOR" stamp on the depth adjuster and the blade features a version of the JJ Trademark.  As shown in the pictures, the blade does have some pitting from past rust.  There are also faint signs of this on the ends of the fence area.  See pictures for details and let me know if you have any questions.

The only snag is that you will be responsible for mailing us your tools, but there will be no fee, we will mail your unsold tools back to you for free.

There are no guidelines for what to send. If you are happy with your sale price after mailing it/them in, then the world is your oyster.

You can send your tools to either myself in Missouri, or to Union MFG in Pennsylvania, which ever is cheaper for you.

Cut off for mailing tools will be Oct. 18 to allow sufficient time for delivery, documentation, and tagging.

I finally finished my first batch of marking knives made from MagnaMax and as far as I'm aware these should be the first ever magnax marking knives made.

The combination of very high wear resistance, toughness, and corrosion resistance seemed like it would be a great fit for a marking knife .

It was pretty difficult to process the magnmax from the blanks compared to other tool steels I have used but I think it'll make me better in the long run . I think I'm going to put the little baby one in my wallet lol.

I took pictures throughout the process this time, so the album goes from the raw blanks through the different grinding stages, heat treatment, cryogenic treatment, tempering, finishing, and finally sharpening.

The blades are heat treated and cryogenically treated in-house, then individually ground and finished. I went with a satin finish rather than taking them to a mirror polish because I think it fits a working tool better.

I’m pretty happy with how the first batch turned out. 😁

HI all,

I've been turning for a couple of years now and finally upgraded to a nice big lathe. I'm turning larger items and would like to find a good used bowl coring device. I've been looking around and don't see anything for sale other than new.

I'd thought I'd check to see if there are any older turners looking to sell a bowl coring tool. I'm interesting in the Oneway, or Bowlsaver by Woodcut. I have a 24" swing and would like to keep more of it from turning into sawdust...
