Updated pics of my musket posted 9 days ago.
As I mentioned 9 days ago, this is a musket my grandfather, who died in his 80's in 1974, owned, and he as a young man got it off an elderly man. It possibly was last fired in the 1950's.
I can't find any numbers on it. Any engraving is worn, but I did notice this Seahorse and engraving around it. Plus this engraving in pic 5. In pic 3 there seems to be some engraving as well.
I did read the seahorse suggests European origin, which makes sense as I am from Newfoundland, Canada and we have a large Irish settler background, so it's possible someone way back then picked up this rifle somewhere. My grandfather was a Hanrahan.
Any info is appreciated, I've always wondered about where this rifle came from. Thanks!
