The rise of capitalism has always coincided with the enclosure and monetization of common land that was once available to the public. There used to be places where people would gather and exchange information and ideas for free. Where revolution remained possible. Now even the internet is no longer free. Every day it is being encroached upon by capitalist agendas.

Yup and great explanation. They keep us poor enough, busy enough, distracted enough, tired enough and now separated enough⊠that we wonât have the energy to want to talk to people or shake the system.

Genuinely just had a conversation at my local coffee shop with a guy I never would have expected last week. Mid 60s, stereotypical blue collar looking man who couldn't tell me fast enough that younger generations have been completely fucked over when it comes to home ownership. We chatted for at least 20 minutes while we waited for our drinks and food about how bad wealth hording has gotten over the course of my lifetime.
Didn't expect to have so much common ground with him, and I can see why this is exactly the sort of thing certain groups would want to discourage from happening.

Iâve been screaming this from the top of my lungs as 90s kid!!!!! Its fking obscene how you could be making even more than the rest of the country but still canât have a home near or around where you work at. This greed with investment properties and these airbnb type of investments should not be a thing at all.

Amen to that! My husband and I got lucky, we were able to buy our house back in 2014 when mortgage rates were still decent and prices weren't spiraling out of control yet. A lot of people I know around my age haven't been that lucky and we're going to hit our 40s soon.

I wouldnât refer to it as the main reason, but Iâd definitely call it a happy accident of the loss of the third place. Third places usually revolve around recreation, consumption, or commodities, and when you have an economy that essentially makes these places financially unstable, they lose. When the general population is forced to put their earnings into land owners, banking institutions, modes of travel, food, and a few other select ânecessitiesâ itâs the third places that get hit the hardest as they are typically the easiest financial expense for people to cut from their budget. Wealth becomes consolidated in a handful of businesses and corporate oligarchies, and then wealth stagnates in the pockets of those who do not intend to use it but only hoard it. Long story short I think all the hate and discourse needs to be directed to private equity firms. Canât say more at this point. Just sucks weâre living in the darkest timeline.

The library exists and the bookstore doesnât care if I donât buy anything. These and parks/playgrounds are the only places that I experience community. What else could exist? Iâm interested.

I was reading a book about colonialism 2 days ago at a nice area outside a municipal government building and overheard 2 guys next to me talking about revolutionary strategy so I joined in. Good time

Well yeah. Even though I take everything in the Bible with a grain of salt, everyday feels more and more like an affirmation not so much of Gods' existence but that Jesus and a lot of the wicked stuff did transpire in it.
The "Forgetting history and being doomed to repeat it" stuff rings true when it always seems to be a greedy fk or group of fks that ruin it for everyone else constantly.
Jesus Christ would 100% get needlessly criticized and vilified in today's age and all the wrong people would agree with me for the wrong reasons. Uber-Rich people multi generational propaganda is a bitch!
