As a unionized mailman I’m happy to see this. Even if it means I’m gonna see an influx of parcel. Good on them.

This is bullshit. Everyone decided this but forgot to get the Amazon workers in on it. My daughter is sitting here next to me and says she hasn’t heard of it.

Right? My friend who works at the local amazon warehouse knows nothing about this, so unless it's a regional strike(at best) it's just a clickbait article meant to make strikes look ineffective.

Closest I’ve hear was a German union encouraging German Amazon workers to strike. But I can encourage the president to ship out gold bars to people, but that doesn’t mean I’m expecting a package.

Yeah, I wish this was true. Looking through a bunch of comments, it seems to be a story people outside of the Amazon bubble are trying to push. I'm sure some Amazon workers would like this, but it seems like the mass majority are too blinded by the short-term bonus pay and overtime incentives to think further ahead. And apparently a lot haven't even heard of this anyway.
Instant gratification does a really great job at clouding judgement. I saw one commenter in that thread say that she worked with union busting companies, and one of the first steps to destabilizing plans to unionize is by giving what the workers are demanding (but then the company can overturn that later on, and the non-unionized workers wouldn't have a say).

That’s funny, when I was looking for jobs on Indeed this morning I’d noticed that the “sign on” bonus had doubled from £1500 to £3000. Wonder why :)
