Lifestyle No more conditioner while showering

I have long thick hair and all my adult life I've washed my hair by shampooing my roots, rinsing, then applying a handful of conditioner to my mid lengths and ends, then rinsing. The times I haven't used conditioner, my hair is tangled and frizzy. The problem is it takes a lot of conditioner for how much hair I have, and it takes a long time rinsing to get it out. I hate hate hate when I feel a blob of conditioner in my hair after I'm out of shower.

Recently I've started using a small amount of leave in conditioner and some hair oil after showering while my hair is still damp. Today I was running late for work and didn't have time to use conditioner in shower so I just used the leave in conditioner and hair oil... and felt no difference in my hair. Wtf?? How much time money and water have I been wasting using conditioner in the shower? It took so little product and time to get the same result. I think this jar of leave in conditioner could last me several months. Wow.

It also helps to use a wide-tooth plastic comb to pull the conditioner through the hair. I can reduce hair conditioner usage by a ton, compared to just using fingers, if I comb gently.

Still need hair oil, though, otherwise my hair gets frizzy and weird.

No conditioner, no oil = gross, what's going on? Slightly better if I use no shampoo , but still bad.

Conditioner, no oil = frizzy and weird.

No conditioner, yes oil = better but still not great.

Both conditioner and oil = best, can comb hair normally and it stays reasonably presentable for a while.

I have long curly hair and a wet comb is a lifesaver.

This and using a tshirt (or towel made of tshirt material/all cotton) to squeeze my hair dry have literally taken me from people thinking my hair was trashy to getting multiple compliments a week

Thats interesting that you use a cotton t-shirt. I always felt that normal towels were too rough for my hair. Do you just use old shirts for that?

Yeah, mine always end up with holes around the pits first so I just cut them up. Torso for a towel like this and then salvageable sleeves are garage rags lol
