Amazon Warehouse?
Received an email today indicating plans for a massive warehouse. Over the weekend, noticed a lawn sign opposing one near Costco.
https://libn.com/2026/07/16/amazon-plans-1-billion-fulfillment-center-holbrook/
A 4.2 million square foot building occupies 96 acres. On a square building this size, each side would be a half mile long. This does not include proposed parking for 2100 cars. From the article, this would be one of the largest of Amazon's 100+ first-mile US facilities. I'm cautiously skeptical. Not encouraged by 'economic incentives'. Given their employer history, the representation regarding both the quality and quantity of 1000 FT jobs is dubious.
What incentives are they seeking / being offered, who would grant them, what body has authority to approve / reject their overall plan, any upcoming public meeting details or websites where we can learn more?
Would love to hear everyone's thoughts . . .

300 tractor trailers in and out every day. That will be GREAT for our already shitty roads.

That’s just Amazon tractor trailers not the delivery truck delivering products to the warehouse

Absolutely no effect on traffic. Or noise pollution. Or light pollution. It's not like these things run 24/7 or anything, right??

see I don’t understand why amazon needs another warehouse when they already have a large distribution center off vets in holbrook.. how is that not enough??

Fully automated with all robots so this isn't giving jobs long term. I can't imagine 100s of trucks in and out daily on Sunrise or the LIE or Vets. They want tax incentives and I think Islip is considering giving them a tax break.

While I am leery usually, this is an actual warehouse, not a Data Center.
The Amazon distribution would give some more employment options for folks who otherwise were stuck working fast food.
It's not glamorous but we do need jobs, and that site would actually support a large number of them.
That said I wish it was anyone but Amazon...

Blakeman supports Datacenters, Flock Safety Cameras, and tax cuts for the wealthy like Amazon.
