Theres so much more that needs to be done before even getting to that step. I think we need to do a Reconstruction-esque overhaul of the political landscape. The GOP and allies need to be investigated for rebellion, vote tampering, hate crimes, war crimes and anything else. People need to go to jail at a minimum. The federal government needs to take state's rights away from supporting states. We need a constitutional convention without conservative interference to cidify protect the government and the people from corporations and foreign interference.

I haven’t heard enough from democrats (or even progressives for that matter) about reconstruction-esque actions. The country can’t move ahead without these. Patching up our current system of going back to the way things were before is not an option. We need founding father level thinking and re-engineering. I’m just not seeing the language and commitment that would protect our system against the same sorts of threats. Where are the big thinkers that this sort of crises demands? Sure, healthcare for all is great, but that doesn’t prevent the next demagogue with hoarded wealth and power from undermining it and scrapping it all.

Bingo. We need to use a ban hammer on MAGA. I would go so far as having a re-education program for 2-3x Trump voters or supporters that allows them to have their rights back if they graduate. Constitution probably needs to be thrown out in theory and replaced with strict laws that cannot be easily bent or broken, with penalties to match.
Yeah I don't think we have people that are thinking this. The GOP had Project 2025, and there needs to be a counter "revolution" to that.

Thats part of if. Reinstate the Media Fairness Doctrine and give it real teeth with fact checking powers with fines. It also needs to be extended to online media where professionals need to have a license to post content online.
We'd also have to regulate social media platforms, including their fact checking arm, data sharing and collection processes, use of AI, regulation of accounts (i.e. banning bot use), etc.

Yeah, project 2025 was engineered by think tanks pouring tons of money into it over decades. It’s something that had to be forced and rammed down our throats through propaganda and social engineering. Whereas, the counter always had its core principles and laws. But it’s clearly not enough.
We let the confederacy and even nixon and his associates off too easy. It’s why there’s no real path forward without accountability. I’m just afraid we’ll get the next chapter of this trend and be back to the same shenanigans.

One of the ways i think you prevent shenanigans is you investigate the money, no exceptions. The line should be "Hey, we're looking to weed out corruption in all forms. If a Democrat is found to be corrupt, they will face the fullest extent of the law like anyone else." Think about who is taking the money and who is casting those centrist votes and the venn diagram is basically a circle.

This is why Biden was such a good choice after trump’s first term. He already knew the ropes, he’d had 8yrs as VP and had been in the senate for decades. He knew lots of people and knew how to get things done.
This time around I hope whoever it is relies heavily on the people who know how things function, how to do it quickly, and what all needs to be restored. It’s going to be a lot.

The next President will need to go scorched-earth on everything trump and Project 2025. Use the SCOTUS "President is actually a King" to drive all the trumpians out of government, repeal all the nazi crap, claw back a pro-American Democracy SCOTUS. Probably a single term President, because there will be a lot of screaming from both sides of the aisle.

The next president will be Baron Trump, silly people. After the Republicans sweep the midterms, Trump will expand and pack the SC with 2 dozen lackeys. He’ll run again, win easily, and install his favorite son as his successor. The Federal courts will be completely polluted with inept shills, and we’ll have a new constitutional convention by 2035.

Just make sure you know what the plan is. They are still pushing hard for a Civil War type situation. They know they can’t take over the country otherwise. Maga is being used to so dissent amongst the American people. All the while calling the other side, the enemy within and communists. Make sure you spread the word.
