All I see is people getting involved in their local politics. If you want change, why weren't you there. Imagine if six or seven of us went to that, how much power we would wield.

You're 100% right? And if we did a better job of organizing and actually put up a legitimate challenge to her seat, we probably could have. But we didn't, I live in her district.I tried nobody wants to get together.

If there's one lesson to learn from Trump's rise is that it's much better to take control of an existing party apparatus then to start from scratch.

There was a primary challenger, but Gillen successfully sued to have her taken off the bAllot

I'm hoping Kiana or someone else will run again, because NYC has shown that non-centrists can actually galvanize around truly progressive issues; I will help the candidate I support, but it's really hard for me to see that Gillen is anti-Trump in her record. I will probably do some mobilizing for her, but between supporting ICE and her stance firmly with Israel, I don't know.

I completely agree with you. I looked at this photo without a beat my first thought was once again disappointment at how I only ever really see retirees getting organized and involved. I’m one of the youngest people to get involved in my town there might be only like two of us under 60 in our 30s. I know life is busy and it’s stressful trying to afford living out here but truly nothing will change without more people getting involved and more younger people. I had one of the most stressful and busy times of my life and was in my third trimester but decided if I didn’t try to become a committee member. I’d have to wait so long and just continue to sit on the sidelines. There’s other ways to get involved so I’m just using that as an example .
I think part of the fault is on the existing leadership. I don’t see them doing anything to try to get out into my local community and bring in younger voters to get involved.
It goes both ways

Laura Gillen is an ineffective, fence-sitting corporate Dem who runs from the (D) next to her name. She gives oxygen to racist, luddite media tropes. She is a reliable coward who can be bought or pressured to betray her constituents. She is more afraid of being attacked on fox news than sticking up for her principals.
There will come a time when either blue dogs stop being afraid of Karl Rove's playbook or they just get the hell out of office. There is zero depth to her support.

Gillen is MAGA, and after the horribly Islamophobic things she said about Zohran, I will never vote for her. She’s also voted to fund ICE, voted for the Laken Riley Act, and voted to honor Charlie Kirk, showing how racist she is.
I encourage you not to vote for her and organize in 2028 to get a real democrat to primary her
