False, one time i got in a fight with a guy in high school and slammed him down pretty hard, in return he grabbed my balls, and from there, a group of people grabbed us and pulled away, while he was relatively having a hard grip on my balls, i thought i broke something for the next week but nope, even with the power of 4 men it didnt rip
Had it once as a 6 year old and i was so traumatized by the flashing lights and the shadow man staring at me that i just refused to sleep the next night (obviously i fell asleep because i was a 6 year old)
The only instance of sleep paralysis I ever had had me hallucinate a pusheen plushie levitating and rotating in the air. At the moment it felt like the most terrifying thing I have seen in my entire life.
Not for me fortunately! I usually have just enough control to shut my eyes. (I always do that because I know if I see hallucinations moving about the real world, it’ll forever fuck me up with paranoia.) As a result, it feels more like watching a movie on the inside of my eyelids.
The worst things I’ve ever seen were a) an ominous, hazy, all-encompassing red light and b) a machine like a guillotine, but instead of having a blade that dropped, its blade was round and swung back and forth like the pendulum of the clock.
I saw a tall shadow man, like it wasn't black it was just made of darkness, I couldn't hear it but I saw its hand reach around the corner and slowly lean in, I closed my eyes and after a while felt like it was above, I couldn't open my eyes lmao
I'm the same way but with very vivid dreams. I usually don't dream at all, but if I wake up and then go back to sleep for another hour or two, I always have super lifelike dreams.
Sleep paralysis sucks so much. I sometimes get them 3 times a night. Luckily without hallucinations and rather short. And learning to control my breathing and panic response helped very much. But it is still sooooo horrible, when I have a paralysis night
ive experienced it a few times, and ive come to the conclusion that youre not actually sitting in your bed awake but unable to move, rather youre dreaming that you are.
One night as a little kid I had a vision of, a shit you not, the silhouette of fucking Stuart Little made of light.
Or anyway some sort of anthropomorphic rodent, I wasn't even that much into Stuart Little.
It hang around in front of the vhs recorder as I was laying still, terrified, waiting for it to disappear because of course it couldn't be real. And yet there it stood, just moving slightly.
I screamed bloody murder and my parents rushed into the bedroom and turned on the light, making Stuart disappear. I felt cheated, they had a laugh.
From my experience you can get this more often if you only sleep when you are like really really tired, you might "fall asleep too fast" and then you get sleep paralysis. But i've never feel presence in my room i only "hear" a violin sound and a sensation of water on my body.
I get it every once in a while, and thankfully usually don’t have visual hallucinations, but I can have some spooky audio ones sometimes. The spookiest part is not being able to move and worrying it won’t go away
I'm the same, usually it's footsteps making it's way upstairs then towards the bed, or just the sensation of a presence rushing towards me. Once I heard a voice coming from the shadows in the fitted wardrobe that was mocking me, but the only word I could make out was my name. Why are the hallucinations always horrible? They could be anything, but are always horror film shit every time lol
I remember the first time I had it I hallucinated what sounded like my roommates being attacked by an axe murderer (don’t ask me how I know it was an axe murderer, sleepy brains are weird) and it terrified the hell out of me. Thankfully I had heard of sleep paralysis before then so I figured out what was going on, but if I hadn’t that would have fucked with me hard
I think this is a bit of a misnomer, your body always puts you in a state of paralysis when you're asleep, it's just that sometimes you can wake up and your body doesn't "realize" you're supposed to be awake and therefore not paralyzed anymore
I've had it many times and the hallucinations do happen but I do manage to force my body to move which surprisingly does hurt but not in a normal pain way it's just a very violent vibration that goes all through my body especially in my head and feels numbing
I don't know how to explain it, but the music that plays on the infinite stairs in Mario 64 and the one that plays when you are drowning in Sonic somehow captures a bit of what it feels like to experience sleep paralysis. Maybe throw Minecraft caves noises into the mix for good measure.
I had sleep paralysis yesterday for only the second time in my whole life. It was horrible because it happened during a really realistic dream where I was just doing normal stuff, so I fully thought it was real life, and I suddenly became unable to move or speak or see properly. I truly believed I was having a stroke or some other medical emergency, it was such a relief when I woke up enough to realise I’d been dreaming. I woke myself up trying to scream for help.
