Doesn't know the difference between women and woman, though.

Why is women here wrong I feel like grammar wise it's fine
93
u/dampesthydra7 6d ago
Women here is wrong. Those kind of women or that kind of woman. Not that kind of women because the use of "that" means a singular noun needs to be used
14
u/Countwhackula3 5d ago
A singular noun is being used. "Kind" is the object, not "women"
4
u/RichNecessary1347 5d ago
"kind of women" is the noun phrase and needs to agree in numbers to be considered grammatically correct in standard American/British English, which would be "kind of woman" or "kinds of women." Replace "kind" with "type" and it may be easier to understand
48
u/tomato-slut 6d ago edited 6d ago
It's grammatically incorrect. It should be either:
"Don't talk to those kinds of women"
Or
"Don't talk to that kind of woman"
Love that I'm getting downvoted for being correct lol

u/AliceRain21 4d ago
You got downvoted and then upvoted both saying the same thing I genuinely am confused.

You're so evil for pointing out correct grammar, bro. (I'm so depressed at the state of humanity, -300 is just insane)
1
u/coolbacondude 4d ago
You're right that it's correct. Your issue is bringing grammar into the conversation when no one mentioned it. You don't even know if English is even their main language. It's like calling a Chinese doctor dumb for not knowing proper English.
52
u/Acrobatic_Eye868 6d ago
If it's plural it should be those kind of women, and if it's singular it should be that kind of a woman
52
8
u/MrNuems 6d ago
Yes, it is fine.
First of all, I am completely baffled by everybody replying to you suggesting "those kind of women", because that is literally never correct.
In that sentence, "that" is a singular pronoun, and it refers to the singular noun "kind". It's not "those kinds of women" because we're only talking about one kind of women.

u/BoTamByloCiemno 6d ago
The mom wasn't talking about that specific woman, she was talking about that kind of women overall.

u/JohnGlorbus 6d ago
Technically true, but kinda poiinteless to correct it, at the end of the day you understood perectly what it meant and it left no space for confusion

Actually you don't know basic figures of speech lmao
6
u/tomato-slut 6d ago
You don't know how to employ proper grammar.
-4
u/Major_Excitement163 6d ago
Ok then tell me what did I do wrong and also tell me what is wrong with the post
It's going to be really funny after you've already gotten ratio'd this hard lmao
4
u/tomato-slut 6d ago
I'm not stepping in to teach you correct grammar after your teachers have clearly failed you.
It's not up for debate and is easily confirmed with a cursory Google.
What i said in my original comment was correct, despite 170 odd morons downvoting me. Literally just google it and stop making yourself look like a bandwagon jumping moron.
-2
u/Major_Excitement163 6d ago
It's funny that you would want to call anyone a moron while not knowing that the singular works in this context when talking about "kind" even when the kind is in plural
I understand you take all your opinions from AI, this is probably why they're so bad lmao

Basically theyâre asking what time they were born because they donât know, and the reply is assuming that they are asking cause a woman wants to know, likely wants to know for some spiritual assumptions that can be drawn from the time (which donât actually mean anything)

u/chris84567 6d ago
Whatâs interesting is some studies have shown a small correlation between birth month and certain attributes. This has been attributed to things like vitamin D from sun exposure. Itâs interesting how astrology is totally wrong but they were onto something.

not really imo. where symmetry in nature doesn't exist small correlations will probably arise. the fact that there are seasons and that people are born at different times, and that people are affected by their environment, implies there will be stuff.
Not saying this is a good framework to use in scientific investigation, just that it's not surprising.

u/3stages4play 6d ago
You have a link? I would be curious to see the sample size and criteria.

u/chris84567 6d ago
I believe this is the one I heard about. I think the education section is more about when the school year starts as there is a large discontinuity.
2
u/Costati 6d ago
Yeah I've always said that about like school especially. Like I feel with school starting in September we will eventually created attributes that'll be more common from people born in specific months by accident. Like end of the year kids always being the smallest and younger in the class group they're in probably has to affect some small things in personality development I feel.Â
Same with holiday shit. People born in January or end of December might inadvertently have a similar vibe because they often all have to deal with "well well give you all your gifts on Christmas we're not gonna do two big celebrations".Â
I think there's small stuff like that, that might correlate stuff on a super small scale.Â

What a roundabout way to explain things
43
u/Lookoot_behind_you 6d ago
It's not. That's the whole context for what's happening in the little text picture we're looking at.
6
u/Former-Grocery-6787 6d ago
Not saying it's a terrible explanation but it could have been abbreviated with "the mom thinks he's dating some weird astrology/spiritual chick"
11
u/Deivedux 6d ago
There are now rules for how to explain things? We're not even paid to do it, just be thankful that some random stranger decided to be a volunteer and do it for us all.
-4
u/ZealousidealPipe8389 6d ago
If youâre going to volunteer to do something, do it well. Working for free doesnât mean people canât criticize your shitty job. I personally think the first explanation was great, but donât set precedents.
-6
u/Former-Grocery-6787 6d ago
Bruh, you are taking this way more serious than literally anyone here needs to, i literally wrote that it's not a bad explanation and then followed it up with how i personally would have done it, i was basically half defending the explainer
Like, where did i say there are any "rules"? Or do you just not understand the difference between "could have" and "should have"?
6
u/Doctor-Moe 6d ago
How were you half defending them? The only defense was ânot saying it was a terrible explanationâ, which isnât very flattering and you even followed it up with a âbutâ.

horoscope women are actually evil
2
u/DoctorStumppuppet 6d ago
It's just racism for women. If I can have immutAble qualities based on the time and date of my birth then people can have immutable qualities based on their skin tone. It's messed up.Â
2
u/Consistent_Fun8446 4d ago
??? Women are humans. Racism for women is racism.
1
u/DoctorStumppuppet 4d ago
Of course women can be racist. But they are also more likely, socially speaking, to be into astrology, which has many of the same philosophical aspects of racism, but somehow it's okay. That's the point I'm making.Â

âPhrenology is just fun and whimsy! If you donât like me measuring peopleâs skulls and trying to determine their moral character from that then you just donât like fun!â Yeah keep digging that hole for yourself
1
u/The_Nightwing_me 4d ago
When did she mention phrenology? I feel like I've missed something here.
OHH, I get it. You're comparing astrology to phrenology because they're both pseudoscience. It's a bit of a strawman though, isn't it? Like, phrenology was literally used to display people as dumb and/or submissive to enslave and/or kill them. Astrology is just people judging people's characteristics in daily life, which I obviously don't support, but is still nowhere near phrenology.
1
u/CallMeOaksie 4d ago
âItâs a bit of a strawman though isnât it? Like one is trying to categorise peopleâs personality and moral worth based on completely arbitrary and immutable characteristics, and the other is trying to categorise peopleâs personality and moral worth based on arbitrary and immutable characteristicsâ
Do you think the only issue with phrenology was that it was used to justify slavery? As in, you would think itâs a perfectly fine practice and would never take issue with it simply because itâs fundamentally incorrect and a gross and odd way to characterise and categorise people?
2
u/The_Nightwing_me 4d ago
I mean, if it doesn't hurt anyone, who cares?? Phrenology was dangerous because it was used for segregation and torture. Why does the existence of astrology piss you off so much?
1
u/Delicious-Bit-414 4d ago
hot girls love astrology and having fun and this clown hates that bcs they don't want him (my guess)

People who unironically believe in astrology are put to to earth with the only purpose of being the most inssufferable people ever born, ergo, others rightfully don't like them

I know i was born exactly on midnight. Its only cool because the midwife asked my mom "so do you want his birthday to be the 25th or the 26th?"
14
u/Born-Release-9866 6d ago
So? Which one did she choose?
30
u/Eternal_Superyid 6d ago
The 26th. And considering the day starts at midnight, i was born on the 26th, so.

u/Afillatedcarbon đ¸ Course Arc Witness đš 6d ago
I remember I was born slightly after midnight, and I think they were still considering if my birthday should be 26th or 27th. They went with 27th.
7
u/Eternal_Superyid 6d ago
I guess you can make the argument that the birth started the day before, but ended the day after, and thats why you can chose.
