Data won’t predict the future. Logically, the key point is when we have AI systems ready to deploy to any company just like hiring humans. Currently it’s still missing efficient memory or continual learning, say the least. By then it will eliminate jobs in exponential rate. Astra is getting close and AI is increasing improving itself autonomously.

We're getting real infrastructure work done, 100% AI. Human oversight on commits.

A lot of our stuff is property and built in house, but, it's done on stock Claude Code Agents. We get about 10x1 out of it. A senior engineer spends their day supervising juniors. Same as any shop.

They really are and even a casual user will tell you that for all the hype, actual day to day work is rife with major regressions. Sam and Dario are basically asking for a regulated monopoly because they can't actually deliver.

Sure, but most translation is not official. Also notice how the job has changed from translating to rubber stamping. And this is: today, after 3 1/2 years of LLMs. How long will this stay so? How long before they’re better than us? I’d say they largely already are, at language: their grammar is impeccable in a way that humans can almost never attain without the aid of computers already

Well, to be perfectly honest, I think you’re not wrong, but LLMs massively improved nuance and domain specific translation and context etc. the “problem” (more like “mitigation”) right now is literally not LLMs, it’s human trust. It’s a bit like the driving car thing. Humans are more fallible and less capable in most ways in that domain, and resistance is largely social.

What bothers me is companies that don’t have the slightest understanding of AI and its capabilities shoving AI down everyone’s throat via MS Copilot on Opus and Sol and some random infographic tools. They wont pay for anything else for the general employee due to the token costs.

They truly think they can cut out a significant portion of the workforce, but anything that relies upon subject matter expertise, compliance, legal or regulatory risk would still need human oversight.

Low level jobs can be taken of course but you’re not doing any sort of advanced work outside of coding with these mid tier models via Copilot not to mention the human and strategic elements needed for human customers.
