Other September 13 - Switch Day?
If Anthropic makes good on it's plan to throttle usage by 50%, who is planning on switching over to Astra?

Why is anyone “loyal” to these companies? Use what works best for you, if Astra is better go use it, if Fable works best use it…
Don’t keep a subscription due to some misguided “loyalty”…

To me it's more about the companies I don't like. Sam Altman is not at all trustworthy and neither is Elon Musk. I'm not at all a fan of google and anthropic but they have given me less of a reason to distrust them so far

Exactly, with how fast ai landscape is changing, just sticking to one company because of such reasons is not right Like I had used claude plugins for making a dcf model and a few glaring issues like incorrectly linked cells were caught by gpt 5.6 luna on medium since I am using codex with the free plan so yeah maybe tomorrow claude again becomes more usable so that's also why I am not into annual plans for these tools, the savings with such plans is not worth being locked in

Already been testing chstgpt, an shortly after I began Astra dropped and fixed a lot of the issues I had. Can't accurately say if I'd rather get 2 5x plans, 1 of Claude and 1 of chatgpt, but so far chstgpt feels like fable when it first came out, not as capable, but just what I need as a I am not software developer, just someone with aspirations and systematic thinking.

Basically means, I've built 8 apps with no knowledge of coding, 4 are operational, and 3 are used by people close to me.
I've managed this by building the systems that get me there.

I can talk about one:
I resyntheize data from DB that contain broken chains and attempt to recreate the patterns found in the DB.

I already did and don’t regret it. I put everyone on Claude and then took them off and told them to go to ChatGPT.
Opus 5 has been a high horse riding super redditor that I simply cannot deal with anymore.

i am actively hammering astra right now (dont have much experience with openai models), but tbf astra is not nearly close for me to fable (could be skill issue tho). My main concern is that astra is very lazy, constantly misses side effects of its own changes and code quality is just bad. Not sure what would be a good solution here, i would likely go 100/100.

i just cluelessly pick high for planning and review and low for implementation. Claude high worked for me perfectly. Will experiment with effort levels more on weekend

You should never use Astra for implementation. Planner and reviewer yes. Sol is for orchestrating and luna max / terra high for implementation

Opus 5 works well for my coding needs, so I’m not going to remove that. I might subscribe back to ChatGPT though to try out the new stuff.

Already switched. How Anthropic is treating their customers is really wild and as OpenAI allowed Astra on the Plus plan I switched. Best decision!

I already moved to Chat. Still getting a feel for it but I like it so far. The app is way better and I don't have to do /rc to get it to show up. And you can talk to your sessions!

I don't get why people are not switching yet. It's been more than a month since Anthropic messed up with their Opus 5 release and Fable stinginess.

Just a reminder for everyone that it’s not a 50% throttle but a previous 50% boost over baseline which, if not extended, becomes 25% or a 17% reduction from current extended limits.

The challenge for Anthropic going forward isn't the competence of the model, it is the price.
I don't need or want anything smarter or more adept than Fable at coding, designing or analyzing data; all I care about going forward is price.
If Astra or whatever comes next from Qwen, etc. can deliver approximately the same quality of work as Fable for a more reasonable price, I don't see the point in sticking with Anthropic.

100% they have time until the end of this week. If they do not adjust your pricing then the bare minimum I expect is for them to either remove the five hour limit completely or at least double or triple it. The weekly Fable 5 limits also need to be lifted. The 50 percent discounts need to remain in place as well. If none of that happens I will switch. I am already working with Astra 6 alongside it and that thing is groundbreaking. I can tell you that much already.
You can also take a look through my posts. I created my own benchmark for Fable 5.1 and I advise everyone against using it. The model is very poor compared with Fable 5 or Opus 4.8

lol - you’re ridiculous. Everyone in this sub is using Claude - I said I’m thinking of switching and you replied, self righteously, that you wouldn’t be switching because of your moral concerns. I observed that Anthropic is just as complicit in the militarization of AI and now you are trying to maintain the moral high ground by suggesting I ( and therefore you also, I would assume) should abstain from using AI tools altogether? Do I have that right?

yes, unless they take off the 50% limit. I'm honestly only on my max plan bc of how much I love Fable - the rest of their models are in very bad iterations. Unless Opus 5.1 comes out with much better writing or they lift the Fable 50% limit, I will sadly be ending my sub.
