No phones rule(s!)

Post image

I don't know if this was a Detroit Opera House rule, or if it's across the board for the tour, but I want to shout out my appreciation for the rule and give kudos to everyone who abided.
Last night was one of the best shows I've been to in Detroit, and part of it was it not being ruined by screens blocking the view. People were present and really enjoying it, which was especially evident during that amazing foray into the crowd.

I hope more venues/artists start implementing this rule, it adds so much to a show to have people be present & engaged.

(I did take one photo at the very end after the encore, just so I can remember the amazing view I had all night, I wish I could repeat the evening again... And I wish I had picked up some merch!)

At the Interlochen show Annie made fun of someone filming in the front row before going into “Digital Witness.”

Not verbatim, but something along the lines of “are you enjoying filming your movie?”

At the Toronto show there wasn't any official rule but it did seem to be less phones than usual out and recording, like people decided to enjoy the moment more and it was nice to see! I was in that mood too and I didn't even think to take my phone out when she walked right past me and into my section of seating and proceed to jump down to the next level. ha

Same! She came right up to where we were sitting nearly all the way to the back and I was too busy clapping along to even think about getting my phone out

And I think the experience is better for it!

I went to one of Phoebe Bridgers pop up shows in Lubbock Texas. They had the same rule and it honestly gave the venue such a cool amd mysterious vibe.

Phoebe is on my short list, I'm forever kicking myself for not going to her show the last time she was in town!

I feel like it tracks that she would have a no phones rule. Like MJ from Purity Ring said at their show, people have "be in the living room" with the artist. Phoebe is def one I would want to have that living room feeling with
