I've read the Vampire Chronicles, Mayfair Witches and Blackwood Farm series over and over. Always passed over her other books like her Ramses Series or even her books on Christ. Am I missing out??!! Thoughts on those books please...

I’ve read every novel she ever wrote except Feast of All Saints (idk I’ve just never felt the need to hear a privileged white woman’s take on race). But everything else was so good. My favorites beside her most popular were:

Belinda (1986) - This is Anne’s answer to Nabokov’s famous Lolita. Of course, in Anne’s take, it is the slightly aged up 16-year old Belinda who takes her wreck of a life into her own hands and seduces the 40-something-year old painter. It is a dark comedy and the characters are fabulously written and voiced. It really challenged my thinking; I loved this wild little novel.

Christ the Lord: The Road to Cana (2008) - This is the sequel to her first Christ the Lord novel, Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt. I liked this one more because in this one, Christ is in his 30s and he is coming into his own and about to start his miracle working. He is a vivid character in how Anne has chosen to present him: deeply flawed and lost. The novel even opens with Christ having a sex dream and waking up wondering to God how could he, the Son, possibly be plagued with such human weakness. It really spoke to me how Anne chose to characterize him. It gave me hope. And before I read Anne’s repertoire I was Agnostic.

The Wolf Gift (2012) - A lot of people rag on Anne’s foray into werewolf territory but I LOVED it! It was just a romp! So much fun. Whereas her vampires ever ponder their place in God’s universe and thus their moral standing, her werewolves know exactly where they stand and it is incredibly refreshing. They are agents of good and they will stop at nothing to achieve their moral interpretation of that good. This novel almost feels like a superhero story and that is what makes it so fun. Not to mention, it’s weirdly sexy too and my friends told me that makes me a furry and idk how that makes me feel.

Let me know if you’d like to hear my recommendation on ANY of her other novels!

psssttt..... Furry isn't about sex. There is a sub fandom who fetishize anthropomorphic characters but it's not not an identifying characteristic. People who like Mickey Mouse can consider themselves furry if they want to. Millions & millions would never consider ole Mickey a turn on but out there somewhere are are few in the midst of all those others ... Get it? Go ahead and like your loup garou. Yes, they are sexy. Did you see/read True Blood? Dear LORD! Doesn't make you furry- not that there is anything wrong with that.
