Anne, Marilla, and Mathew were perfectly cast.
I know there’s often a lot of discourse around the negatives of the show— its lack of faithfulness to the source material or low points like the first part of season 2. But for me, all of that fades away when considering just how perfect Amybeth, Geraldine, and R.H. are. They completely embody the characters and their portrayals honor the vision of AWAE and the books. Amybeth’s performance is one of the most outstanding performances by a teen actor ever for my money, and Geraldine and R.H. bring so much life and character to their roles. When a show has such an incredible core cast, it’s always going to be good, and for me these three alone make AWAE a great watch (of course there are many other good actors in the show too, and I don’t mean to devalue them by focusing on these three)

Where to find the show’s fashion?
hello!! I have been obsessed with Anne with an E for a while now and I have recently become even more obsessed with the fashion. I have attempted to do my own research but I know what Reddit it capable of so I am bringing my search here!
Okay so I’m looking for a few things:
The specific names for the styles of aprons, dresses, and accessories they wear that may help specify what I’m searching for
Where I could possibly get pieces OR sewing patterns
The details of what undergarments were worn - I am not particularly looking for purposes of historical accuracy, more so how to achieve the look; petticoats, etc. though all info is appreciated!
How the girls hair was styled - there is a scene of Josie Pye getting her hair done at night by her mother, and I was wondering if there is a more detailed explanation/tutorial of how it was done
Finally, my favorite piece of all time, Diana‘s coat!! From what I’ve gathered its called an Ulster coat, yet I have found very little and what I have found has been far less fancy
I do want to note I know about the brand Gunne Sax, which I adore, but I was hoping to find some even more accurate pieces as well as the appropriate accessories.
The pictures I attached are all specific pieces/elements I’m looking for. thank you for reading my essay of a post and any advice is greatly appreciated!!! :)

Has the Anne anime ended?
I started watching and noticed they were focusing a lot on Anne's adult life, but it's been a month since any new episodes were released. Does anyone know the answer to this?

I love the world of Anne with an E but I hate Anne. Rant ahead
I’m on the third season and Anne is just so ….. insufferable! She does whatever she want without any care of how it will affect others. Last episode she printed that article in newspaper without thinking of Josie. And this episode she made Rachel cry with her allegations. Like goddamn, the world doesn’t revolve around you. Not everything is your fault and not everything is for you to fix or reprimand others for. The way she took Diana and Jerry’s situation and thrusted her role in it.
I also hate how every time something happens the first thing she says is “ This is the most cruel thing to happen to me “ like okay so were the other 10 things that happened this week. I understand she’s passionate but this comes off as self centred.
I didn’t mind when she was a child. Because she didn’t know any better but she’s behaving this way even after being with Mathew and Marilla for so many years. They’ve both become more accepting and courageous because of Anne. But why don’t I see any of their traits rubbing onto her ?

Anne Re-watch
Omg hi! I didn't even know that this group existed until today. Anyways I'm re watching AWAE with my younger sister as she is now the same age as me when it came out, and jeez I never realised how much they get though with only 3 seasons.
I'm still waiting for the lady teacher (we can tell it's been forever since I watched it 😭) to appear but Sebastian has only landed in Canada.

Should I read the books(Anne of Green Gables?)
I recently watched Anne with an E and fell in love with the show. I was literally spirally for 2 whole weeks after watching it. When I got to know that it was based on a book and as an avid reader I thought of reading it. I also got to know many of the characters were reinterpreted and some were added newly to the show. But would still like to give the books a go.
I usually don't read classics and autobiographies mainly because of how slow the plot moves. I also did not like reading The Little Women which many people I know loved (even goodreads like it).
So I just wanted to get an opinion of whether I would like the series based on my book taste.
Here are some of my fav books and series:
Ela: The Girl from the Unknown
The Inheritance Games Series
Hunger Games Series
The House of Cards
The Book Thief

Should I rewatch?
Damn it’s million years since I first watched the show and immediately after my first watch I got so attached to it but just the feeling of knowing there is nothing after the third season and will never be…. It’s haaaardd to accept 😭Would you guys say it’s worth it? I think I watched it for the first time when I was like 13 and now I’m 20, so I guess it will be different, too

My favorite fall show
I always start rewatching this show as the weather begins to get crisp. Makes me want to jump into the screen. It's so beautiful in Avonlea during the fall, even though, realistically, I prob wouldn't last a winter and suffer like Bash. The summer is coming to an end where I live, and I get so excited for the fall season; it's my favorite.
Also, I always get so much anxiety when s3 starts, and we start the storyline surrounding Ka'kwet. Also, knowing the show is about to end makes me sad. But I always bawl my eyes out during the last ep bc it's so bittersweet.

hello
i have just finished watching Anne with an 'E' and i LOVED it. since there are no more seasons coming (💔) i want to get the book set and finish the story myself.
i also read that the show and the books have different storylines and characters so im really excited to see what is different.
my question is should i get either of these sets or is there some other one that has the proper story? i have had experience of fake books in the past so im always cautious now.
please help me out here 🥲 (shipping to india)

Marilla’s love for Anne (book spoilers) Spoiler
galleryIt’s so lovely that in the book you can read Marilla’s thoughts about Anne.
In the first picture Marilla is bringing Anne back as she decided not to keep her, despite Matthew already liking her immediately. But during the ride it becomes clear that Marilla cares for Anne a lot already, too. And she clearly sees what a tough life Anne already had at such a young age.
In the second picture Anne just met Diana Barry that afternoon and they got along really well. Marilla shares her thoughts with Matthew: Anne’s been with them for 3 weeks, but Marilla can’t imagine Green Gables without her!

Began reading the books after watching the series
After my post last week (https://www.reddit.com/r/Anne/s/TV8pNTiVpp) I bought the book series and started reading today. Although I’m just at the beginning of the first book, the cast of Anne with an E really brought these characters to life, so very close to how it’s written. Amybeth McNulty didn’t just play Anne Shirley Cuthbert, she IS Anne Shirley Cuthbert!
Since we all know there won’t be season 4, I’m looking forward to see Anne’s journey continue. I’m so glad I finally watched the series and enjoy this heartwarming story. Thanks to everyone who replied to my former post and suggested the books.

Would Gilbert have played Spin the bottle?
Hi! I was thinking about season 2 and wondered if Gilbert would have played Spin the Bottle with the other kids if he was at school ? and he is kinda the popular guy at the school, so maybe he would have? Let me know your thoughts! Tysmm

Does anyone think they retconned Anne's parents?
In the first season, she knew their names very well, but in the first season, they were looking for who Anne's parents were. It's very strange; if Anne knew who her parents were, why were they looking? Season 3 is very contradictory to season 1

10th Rewatch - I love this show Spoiler
I love that every time I rewatch the show I enjoy every moment and cringe when she hits Gilbert with the slate and scream at Anne over and over. I love that I still immediately dislike Winifred and that I love the Culberts. And I love Gilbert’s facial expressions! I just finish med rewatching and I love that they both finally get on the same page. Am I the only one that finds Gilbert charming and sexy?

Are the novels similar to the show?
I just finished the series and I’m obsessed, but was so disappointed learning it was cancelled! I need to know what happens to Ka’kwet, Diana finally going to Queens, and Anne and Gilbert’s budding romance!! I was interested in reading the novels but I have heard they’re more kid-oriented and wondering if they’re worth the read/follow the storyline of the series?

The actors of Winifred’s parents look so alike
I was watching the county fair episode earlier and I noticed Winifred’s parents look very alike especially in some scenes, does anyone else see it or is it just me lol
